Watchmen (D: Snyder)

That's curious, has anyone read David Hayter's script for Watchmen? It got some pretty high praise from Alan Moore and I'm kind of curious if there were any changes in that.
I thought solid snake did a pretty damn good job with the X2 script, though I'm sure some additions were made.

so what the hell is Watchmen? People went crazy for the trailer last night and none of us had ever heard of it. I'm guessing it's some crazy big fanboy comic thing? It looked like 300 + The Fountain...and I loved the Fountain.

To date, Watchmen remains the only graphic novel to win a Hugo Award, and is also the only graphic novel to appear on Time Magazine's 2005 list of "the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to the present."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmen <-- everything you'd want to know, and then some.
Basically though, it's about an alternate 1980s reality with a group of masked adventurers/vigilantes and a guy with super powers.

I'm still so pissed my theater didnt put the trailer for Watchmen on the print of The Dark Knight when I saw the midnight showing. But they put that damn star wars cartoon on it. I would have loved to have seen the crowd reaction. Plus I told the girl I went with about the Pumpkins song since she is obsessed with Smashing Pumpkins and she got excited to see it as well. Alas, no trailer.
I wonder what other music will be in the film though. I would love to see some Elvis Costello since he is referenced in the novel. ALso if they find a way to put the trailer song n the movie I would be all too happy.

The trailer looks good. I was nervous about the film adaptation because I feel that some of the complexities of the source will be lost in a 2.5 hour film adaptation and that the graphic novel itself is overrated. The choice of the song was perfect.
I hope that this is a hit so we get Sandman and Preacher films/TV miniseries.

Wow, I don't usually re-read comics or graphic novels but this trailer has me seriously thinking about picking this up again and re-reading Watchmen. I had the GN years ago but I think it's gone. Frankly, I think being older will help me understand it better.

They're releasing animated/narrated versions of the Watchmen comics for free on iTunes. Chapter 1 is up right now. It's ~25 minutes long.

Warner Bros. confirmed in June 2006 that Zack Snyder would direct a film adaptation of Watchmen,[52] which is set for release on March 6, 2009.[53] The cast includes Patrick Wilson, Malin Akerman, Jackie Earle Haley, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.[54] Previously, directors including Paul Greengrass, Terry Gilliam,[55] Darren Aronofsky,[56] and screenwriter David Hayter have been attached to the project over the years.[57] While Moore believes that David Hayter's screenplay was "as close as I could imagine anyone getting to Watchmen," he asserted he did not intend to see the film if it were made.[58] Moore "refuses to have his name attached to any...films."[59] However, Gibbons has stated he feels Snyder can make a good film and is supporting him.[60]
