Yeah, its pretty much made its budget back already. Good call though, it really bombed.

Seriously though, I hope also this movie comes out on DVD early...I need this one asap. But I'm sure they'll wait 'til next Christmas.

I think you may be correct. The studio will probably see "Santa" in the title and automatically give it a Thanksgiving 2004 release, but there is no real reason to wait on this one, since it doesn't need to be released like another family Christmas DVD. I think the audience that this movie appeals to would buy it in a few months on DVD.

I also feel the same way about Love Actually, which I also hope comes to DVD sooner than next year.

Now for Cat in the Hat, they can take as much time as they want to release that.

Bad Santa is a funny funny movie. I saw it on a weekday at 2:00 and the theater was packed with adults, no kids.

As for disney, didn't they make Tuck Everlasting which was about a 100 year old guy hitting on a teenager?

This is easily some of Billy Bob's best work. Probably the funniest movie I've seen all year. The jokes peter out a bit later in the movie, but the story stays entertaining throughout.

Bad Santa the #1 movie in the country!?!?

Check it out -
www.boxofficemojo.com. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/daily/c...3-12-03&p=.htm

Bad Santa #1 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday! - Sure, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday aren't the biggest days at the box office, but I gotta say that's a shocker considering all the other movies out there and that it's a hard R, very anti-Christmas kinda movie. A sleeper hit it seems. I might have to check it out at this rate, I've loved Zwigoff's other movies "Crumb" and "Ghost World."

'eh I'm not very surprised, happens a lot - family films fall hard during the week and make loads on the weekend, whereas R movies hold up reasonably during the week. In other words, the only real competition Bad Santa has is the #2 Gothika.

I predicted this would tank, but I'm glad I was wrong. Good counter-programming!

Hey anything that keeps that damned Cat in the Hat of the top of the list is okay in my book.

Glad to know though that I'm not the only person who enjoys a little backlash against all the warm fuzz, 'Merry Christmas!' crap we get spoonfed this time of year.

Smartly timed at an hour and 33 minutes. It didn't wear out it's welcome and was a riot overall. Some will say it's a one joke movie, but it's a damn funny one joke. I mean, just when you think Billy Bob couldn't make the "F" word funny again, he'd get everyone rollin. You can have the brillant "Slingblade" this was his career role. Brillant. I just wish there was more Ritter, I thought he was hilarious in his bits(the movie is dedicated to him as well). I can't say enough about it, it's defiately worth your 7 bucks, see it to blow off steam after a long day of shopping. The funniest thing I've seen in the theater since Jackass last year.

This movie definitely has good word of mouth...it should be a pretty good hit, money wise, these next couple of weeks.

Either way, I hope we don't have to wait a year for this on DVD.

Continuity glitch?
The sand filled bags w/ the candles were missing during the final chase through the kid's neighborhood. Did i miss something or did they?

Either way, it was a fun movie. i can't wait for the DVD! Finally, a holiday movie that isn't sickeningly saccharine - just a little sick.

I saw this yesterday and found it hilarious. The best part for me was that I lived with a degenerate who was almost identical to Billy Bob in this movie for a couple of years when I was in college. So, it brought back a lot of funny memories.

That scene with Ajay Naidu was funny, but kind of weird. He was in the bar, then he met up with Billy Bob in the parking lot. For some reason, I kept expecting him to come back later in the film. Maybe he did, but the part was cut.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. There were a few scenes that really made me laugh harder than I have in a theater for ages.

I also was impressed by the realationship between 'Santa' and the little boy. The movie didn't dwell on all sorts of background information, but I really got a sense of the kid and what his life must be like. When Billy Bob tore up the advent calandar I was legitimately shocked and saddened. I understood that this idiotic piece of cardboard was important to the kid, and I was horrified at what happened to it. It was great the way their friendship was handled. It made my think of something someone said on one of The Simpson commentaries, that 'you can make an emotional point in five seconds just as well as you could in five minutes'.

I saw it and don't know if I like it or really like it. I know I didn't hate it, I guess I'm just not that big on dark comedies.

The little kid was hilarious though
