At 7:30, the theater was packed. I was lucky to find two seats together. Everyone seemed to like it.
Hillarious. The comedy came in and out with [and this may sound odd] class. Ebert expains that best when he wrote "a movie is not about what it is about, but about how it is about it".
The writing was excellent. Whenever it did give into a little "Christmas spirit" to move the plot along, it was very downbeat and kept it's funny tone. Zwigoff is the king of downbeat, low-key funny-ness.
It was really refreshing to see a well-crafted, near-flawless, adult comedy. It's been a while now. The last one I can think of was "There's Something About Mary". "Old School" was close, but beat itself up in the last third.
I was looking forward to seeing the Hellboy trailer on the big screen. Too bad it wasn't attached to the print I saw. Guess I'll have to go see something else tomorrow.

I just saw it, and man, that was easily one of the funniest movies I've seen in the past year. There is so much great material in this flick. The best part is anyone lives in Phoenix or surround areas will get some of the "in" jokes in the movie. I can't wait for a DVD release of this flick. It's sure to become a Christmas tradition.

4 stars out of 5. Damn that was a funny movie. Saw it in a packed house, too, which was kind of annoying at times - just because someone says "f**k" does not mean it's a cue for people to laugh every single time you hear it.
This film re-affirms my love for Lauren Graham, though her character's taste in men is kind of turnoff.
Shit happens when you party naked.

Had some very funny moments in it.
Bernie Mac's part was a little disappointing.
Tony Young (I think is his name) the little person, Santa's helper was very good. His delivery of lines was great.
and Billy Bob.....a little over the top too much.....but very funny performance.
go see it.

i just got back from seeing it and it was so damn funny man. My favorite part was when he was playing checkers with the kid "thurman merman" lol and he got pissed at the kid. Another funny part was when the midget had to teach teh boy how to box. When they hit each other in the balls and the way the midget went down I just died on the floor laughing. Another part was when that arab dude wanted to kick his ass or even when he was having sex with that girl and she was like **** me santa, **** me santa, **** me santa outta control i tell ya lol

I was disappointed with Bad Santa... while I found some of it to be absolutely hilarious, it just never maintained that level of brilliance.. some of it was so mediocre and overlong that I was in disbelief...which is too bad because some parts (mentioned in this thread) were absolutely perfect... Lauren Graham, John Ritter and Bernie Mac were all criminally underused. Good, but not the great movie I think it could have been.

This movie is the perfect antidote to the commercialism that takes a hold of the current season. It is unapologetically irreverant and you just have to appreciate that.
As a film, I don't know if I liked it all that much - other than Billy Bob all the other characters seemed to be way under-used. At times I wondered if Kevin Smith actually directed this. But it is a comedy, and it works as that.

I thought it was pretty weak. Kinda funny at first, but just the same type of humor throughout the whole movie. By the end, I was just tired and bored. I well placed expletive can be funny, but when they are throwing in f-bombs every other word where they do not fit, it just sounds stupid.

Best Christmas movie ever. I can't recall ever laughing so hard, so often.
The scene in the plus sizes dressing room was priceless!
Just when you think Billy bob's charecter has sunk to his lowest, he sinks even lower!
They even managed to come up with a decent funny end.

I also saw this movie on Sunday and thought it was superb. With Billy Bob's performance, a great script, incredible directing, and extremely funny scenes and enough heart to pull you in to care about the characters, this is perhaps one of the better movies of the season. I definately enjoyed it far more than Intolerable Cruelty.
Did anybody else see any parents in there with their brat? Some dumbass parents brought their six year old daughter, and I pegged them for a walk out from the get go. Unfortunately, they forced their daughter to sit thru the entire movie, making her cover up her eyes when Billy Bob was boning women. The rest of the time she just seemed to sit there bored and wondering why the hell she was there.

Very Mild Spoiler
Spoiler:
There were some other kids in there, too. But none of them were crying at the end.
