It looks like Uma did a lot of the stunt work during the House of Blue Leaves scene, but it's also quite obvious that there are a few shots of a stunt double. In fact, the way the stunt double moved, I happened to think he was a man. Moreover, the entire silhouette scene looks like a stunt double (a man, no less). If it's not a man, I'd be extremely surprised. Furthermore, if it was actually Uma Thurman, I'd be even more surprised.

By "raising your hand", you also lay claim that you were on the set of the film. So are you saying that there were no stunt doubles during either of these two scenes? Cause that's what it sounds like you're saying. If so, I find that EXTREMELY hard to believe.

1. Maybe she already knew where Sofie was headed. If you remember in the movie, The Bride says that it was easy to find O-Ren because she was the leader of the Yakuza. Hell, she knew where to find Hattori Hanzo and she had never even met him before. She knew where to find Vernita Green.

2. Or, and less likely, she maybe read Sofie's lips while Sofie was on the phone (when they were stopped at the stoplight) and knew where to go because of that.

I'm couldn't care what someone's quote from an interview means TO YOU, but when someone states the current idea's of how they plan to present the dvd, even if it's sketchy, it's still a plan that is on the table for right now so you shouldn't just throw it out the window.

Might I ask what is the point of miramax releasing a "directors cut" version. All that is the majority of time is just a marketing gimmick. A directors cut implies that in the first release the director did not have final say about his film. In the case of kill bill, it looks like he did. :p

Oh and the thing on Sofie Fatale - I think it was coincidence that she was following her (they were going to the same place afterall, and coincidence can happen in movies remember) and they just needed a good place for her to have a small introduction sequence (memory of the cell phone ring/voice) to get it so QT didn't just drop it on you all at once.

Just saw this last night. I think I spotted a giant error that is not a minor detail like the hospital scene discussed in part 1 of this thread.

At some point in "The Bride" giving her narrative description of O-Ren Ishii, Lucy Lui's face is centered on screen. The narrative then begins to describe the person TO O-REN ISHII'S RIGHT as Sofie Fatale, AS THE CAMERA PANS TO THE RIGHT, meaning SOFIE FATALE IS ACTUALLY TO O-REN ISHII'S LEFT .

I believe I'm correct, and next time I see it I will try to verify.

You're correct, it's a noted error that oddly seems to be on purpose, I can't explain it (There was a common error similar to it in many chop-sockey movies of old, to that point, they specifically point it out. It's the same as them showing The Bride writing down her "list" in different colors only to show it at the beginning of the movie in all black. And same goes with the big metal line/string that's holding the plane at the end of the movie.)

I think Tarantino went a little overboard on intentional goofs in the movie, but I found most of them pretty funny.

Am I the only one that hears bowling pins drop when GoGo falls on the table?

It's kind of the same sound when each table breaks, I can hear the relation to bowling pins dropping it to me it just sounds like a cheap wood table being crushed from the center.

Speaking of GoGo, didn't the same chick play the girl in <i>Battle Royale</i> that stabbed the kid in the groin who was trying to rape her as well? Might not want to meet her in real llife.

She knew where Vernita Green was because Soapy told her. Soapy informed her where everyone was (is).

Go-Go was in Battle Royale but I'm not sure of the part she played as I've never seen it. I think its mentioned somewhere earlier in the thread.

By the way does anyone know the name of the first song the 5,6,7,8's are playing when Go-Go goes out looking for Uma. Only "Woo Hoo" is in the soundtrack.

Chiaki Kuriyama is absolutely perfect for the role of GoGo, but based upon Battle Royale, maybe Quentin should have Kou Shibasaki (the girl who played the psychotic Mitsuko). Shibasaki was a stone cold killer. :D

But like I said, Kuriyama is perfect as GoGo.

I'm curious to see which scenes get the most reaction from the crowds you guys saw the movie with. And no, I'm not talking about those folks that left during the middle of the movie and blabbered on the way out, I'm talking about those who stayed and had a helluva good time.

I've seen K-B three times with three different crowds and here's some of the reactions I get:

-A quick gasp as soon The Bride finishes her 1st line of the film
-Another gasp when a certain child makes her 2nd appearance
-A wince (From me) every time GoGo empties her 1st victim
-A laugh from some a certain guy in the crowd when O-Ren creates a geyser out of Boss Tanaka
-A laugh (From me, again) when the ball bounces off the back of GoGo's head
-A "AW YEAH" from the guy in his late teens when the eyeball gets poked out

How about your reactions?

I saw it on opening day with a crowd of only around 20 people and I didn't hear a single peep from anyone until this girl behind me started busting a gut when Uma spanked the kid with her sword. Maybe it was because I'd already seen Kurosawa's version of this same scene, but it struck me as really odd that the only thing this girl found funny in the whole movie was this one scene.

I saw the film again tonight (this time in a full theatre) and there were similar reactions to what you state. Also, a strong reaction from many females during Buck's rules to the would-be rapist in the coma ward (along the lines of "I can't believe I'm hearing this"). Also Uma's repeated bashing of Buck's head in the door brought a combination of gasps, winces, Ohhhs and laughs.
Its was pretty cool, this time it was a full house in the theatre but everyone seemed to love it. Laughs and wows at the right parts, dead silence during the quiet parts, no walk outs, etc. Its the best audience I've experienced in quite some time. The only negatives I heard was at the end, when I heard alot of people who couldn't believe that the story stopped there. I guess they weren't aware of the film being "Vol. 1". :lol:


BTW, after a second viewing, I still love the film. But I did notice a couple scenes this time that could have benifitted from slightly tighter editing (if this ended up being released as one film as originally planned, QT might have tightened things up a little bit). I know that Tarantino likes to let scenes run long sometimes, and I have no problem with a slower paced film (hey I liked Jackie Brown) but its just an observation. And I can't wait to see this film yet again. Its like a drug or something. :lol:

Saw that last night in my 2nd viewing of the film.

Only way I can explain it is that its to OUR right of Oren...but there is definitely a mis-calculation there.

That was definitely interesting and it got better as it went along, particularly when she arrived in Okinawa.

Just saw KB tonight. Bizarre flick, can't decide if I like it yet, at least not before another show. Heh heh, couple behind me kept sighing and/or moaning softly *especially* during the most violent parts! Guess they were either bothered by it (not surprising) or getting off on it (it really sounded like moaning especially from her) :eek:

Went and saw it yesterday specifically just to have fun. I could care less where this film ends up historically. I did enjoy it for the camp and goofy characters. I think I enjoy Guy Ritchie's style better... "Snatch" to me was a bit cooler. Not sure why.

ok... not a horrible movie, but certainly not a good movie.

tarantino better be glad he has his reputation, cause if this had been his first movie, it would never have seen the light of day.

i didn't know that blood could shoot out of the body like it was being shot out of a fire hose...

the major disappointing thing is the dialogue. it's really not very good at all. one of the best things about reservoir dogs and pulp fiction is the dialogue. good mix of humor and drama. there was nothing like that in this movie. the only times i laughed was at the ridiculousness of the blood-flow.

acting was good, but there wasn't much to work with. it was pretty stoic the whole way through. and it makes it even worse that we didn't get the whole story.

there is absolutely no reason this couldn't have been one movie. tarantino is so in love with himself, he thinks everything he shoots deserves to be in the movie. there were a number of useless scenes and waaaaaaaaaay too many scenes went on waaaaaaaaaaay too long. edit the damn movie!

Okay I didnt read the first part of this thread or the above ten (10) pages, but I did see KB on Friday and liked what I saw for the reasons I saw it. I mean after a week of dealing with criminals its good to be able to simply turn one's brain off and watch senseless violence.

But I must admit I had two (2) huge problems with the movie. I mean these two (2) things seem to punish the viewer that pays attention to the movie. First off, why in the hell does QT show "The Bride" crossing off the second person's name from the list when it reveals the outcome of the "first fight"? The audience is then fully aware that "The Bride" survives chapter five. And number two, why would Budd be third on the list and in neither of the scenes where a name is crossed off the list is his name not marked off since he (Budd) is the second person "The Bride" kills?

I have only seen three (3) of QT's movies, and its safe to say that while this was much better than "Jackie Brown", it in no way approaches "Pulp Fiction."
