I'd rather see a live-action GI Joe first.

They never did that (as I recall) in the G1 Transformers, so your safe. I can't vouch for later series or anything out of Japan, however.

Funny aside - I picked up the Takara series on DVD from the UK a while back (the series picks up from the end of season 4 in america, with all new (and horrible) voice actors). One of the new Decipticons that was in the show dropped out of the sky onto an autobot, whupped his ass and then announced "I am Sixshot, the Decepticon Ninja Consultant!"

Decepticon.

Ninja.

Consultant.

Wow - to have THAT job discription.

Wow. This could suck on so many levels. I hope they do it right.

this could be the greatest movie of all time. or the worst. i grew up a huge transformers fan (the originals, not the remake crap that has spawned from it). and this is gonna be live action too - sweet.

While I was watching I, Robot, the scene where the house demolition machine starts expanding it popped into my mind that it was time for a live-action Transformers movie......I'm looking forward to it.

I'd love to see a Transformers movie if it was say...rated R. That'd be awesome, Decepticons ravaging a city, tearing civilians limb from limb.

Like Donnacha said, a freeway sequence with cars transforming back and forth would be freaking rad.

Correct......G1 never did that. Just thought I mention it since it was apparent in the post G1 TF cartoons and extremely annoying.

Man, I still wish I had my Sixshot toy. He was so damn cool. Althought I didn't know him to be a Decepticon Ninja Consultant.

No dinobots? No constructicons? We're talking about first season stuff here!

I could see them leaving dinobots out though, focus on vehicles, but a Devastator vs. Superion battle would be quite the treat!

I can see why you'd want to leave out the dinobots. They don't exactly fit into the "Machine/Robot" formula... They turn from a robot-dinosaur into... well... a dinosaur-robot. Plus they're stupid, and it would require a backstory on why they differ from the others.

But Constructicons and Protectobots, Stunticons, Superion, thats some great stuff. I hope they at least address one group like that from each side. It would make for a great scene.

Headmasters sucked.

I guess it depends on what you are wanting to see. I can't see Spielberg making a movie with a bunch of bad-assed transformers.

I see him bringing in the human element (the damn kids), which is not what I am hoping for. (I want a lot-of-action flick, not a feel-good story flick)

Well, if Spielberg is attached we can look forward to a TomHanksobot . . . yippee. Why do I just not have the glee for Spielberg movies that I used to? Somebody needs to take his kids away from him.

the dinobots are what took the autobots off track in the fiirst place.... until then, the AUTObots were all AUTOmobiles

thats what made the decepticons more dangerous as vehicles--they could fly

Spielberg is only executive producer, I'd hardly say he's attached. Probably about as a attached as the Weinsteins were to LOTR

He'd have to be one of those three way transformers. To change into the Oscar, he'd first have to turn into a retard or an AIDS patient.

include the dinobots, they were the coolest and most powerful transformers. impossible to hurt in their dino form and one dinobot could take out five decepticons. stupid but together could take out devastator. aerialbots vs. stunticons would be very cool.

I just can't see this being a good movie. As much as I love the old transformers .. I know how hollywood loves to screw things up and "adapt" it for the big screen. And unless they stick with the original storyline too it'll get messed up. And they must get the original voices back at least for Prime and Megatron.

To clarify why I don't want any autobots, constructicons etc:

The first movie should be about the autobots and decepticons who have crash landed on Earth and are trying to go home. It's the old, but never boring story - hero and villain want the same thing, but just have different means to get it.

How many autobots and decepticons came to Earth? Twenty of each, maybe? How many of them really mattered? That's enough robots for a first movie. Dinobots, Constructicons etc - they're great, but for a first movie, they're superfluous and unnecessary. There wouldn't be enough time to go into those robots and the attention to them would take away from the really important characters. We don't need a ton of characters thrown at us all at once, if we do it'll be overkill.

Basically...

The first film should follow the plot of the More than Meets the Eye story arc.

Yeah, it better be Generation 1. Otherwise, count me out. Even Generation 1 lost some luster with the movie. Part of what was cool about Transformers was that it was set in modern day earth. So everything looked like something you could see outside. Futuristic robot turns into 18 wheeler. With the movie they moved it 20 years in the future so everything became Futuristic robot turns into futuristic space ship. Many of the episodes took place on strange planets. Kind of destroyed what the original charm was.
