I look at it like this... a lot of companies out there are looking to reboot their franchises with fresh input and stuff completely out of left field. Just look at Batman Begins... completely new take on the story and it was very successful. Xmen too had changes and they were for the most part good ones. I'm gonna give Transformers a chance, no matter how strange some of the ideas are that will go into it... there's always a way to pull it off right, and if they manage to do that... then it'll be a hit.

Again, it's not the same thing.

Batman still looked like Batman. Superman still looked like Superman. Bumblebee and Optimus Prime do NOT look like themselves, and if they can't even get that right than I don't really have any hope they'll get the story, dialogue and personalities right (which is MUCH harder.)

I totally agree with this. If they made Batman with a green suit I'm sure people would not like that. In the same way, that people don't like Bumblebee being a Camaro. I'm all for product placement but only when it's done right and I can say that it's not being done right.

Yeah but these transformers have had their bodies changed so many times that there is really isn't a set standard for how they look. A lot of times it's a completely different robot with the same name...

I think where Hasbro has run into trouble here is the fact they said originally this movie was going to be based on Generation 1... and now it seems more like an offspring of Generation 2.

No, I disagree. I don't consider any Optimus Prime to be THE Optimus Prime unless it's the G1 version. Hell, I don't consider it to be TRANSFORMERS unless it's G1. Beast Wars, Cybertron, whatever...that's not what I think Optimus should look like. He's a big red truck.

At least Beast Wars and Beast Machines acknowledged the G1 characters. All shows after that never existed as far as I'm concerned.

That said, although I'm disappointed with the non-G1 designs, I'll still give this feature a shot. But, as a nother poster previously mentioned, Bumblebee should be renamed Hot Rod. It's a more fitting name for a robot that transforms into a camaro.

Actually that's not entirely true... Armada/Micron Legend had G1 character designs in it for the non major players in the story. You gotta watch carefully ;-)

I'd love to, kary. But a few episodes of either show left such a bad taste in my mouth that I cannot stomache any more. The G1 show had loads of faults (Optimus Prime's entire mind fit in a floppy disk?) but the new shows are downright insulting.

That was awesome. Could have used the sound in there too.

That was cool. I too agree that it could have used the classic transformation sound. And the Don Murphy logo wasn't really needed.

Agreed, that was WAY cooler than the existing teaser, because hey, that's actually part of the origin story! What a novel concept!

In the Michael Bay version, apparently the robots are on Mars. So if that is actually part of the story, they've already fucked it up.

Maybe some of the robots jump out of the damaged ship above Mars. The rest of them crash into the Paramount mountain...except for the Decepticons, who land in the water in the Dreamworks logo and get fished out by that kid.

Seriously, cool trailer, def better than the real one.

That was a cool trailer. I think this Transformer movie is going to be one fucked up film.

Are you guys kidding? I guess you guys are still caught up in your anger over certain changes. That fan Teaser was ok but it's wasn't any better than the official one and both are decent teasers. Frankly the fan Tease made me think of "The Thing" crashing into the arctic.

for all the people wishing they look like the original:

soundwave and blaster.

how many people who didn't grow up on transformers are going to look at this and be like ... uh... cassette? what's that?

Look, Soundwave is in the movie but he's a freaking helicopter. Would it have been so hard for him to be an Mp3 type player or mini disk player? The drones could be memory cards! But nooooooo, a stupid copter.

I wish I could make movies. Watching this unfold is agonizing.

Incredibly shitty. 45 of the 77 seconds were DW and Paramount logos. If you consider 3 seconds of a ship crashing into a mountain cool, then you'll probably this movie will be as well.

Yeah, but in that 45 seconds it showed more heart and homage to the original Transformers than the crap that was released officially.

Gimme a break. A few logos and a ship crash = more heart and homage? I'm sorry but at least the real teaser showed a friggin Transformer.

Yeah, and the nod to the song at the end of it. What did the official one have? A quick flash of a robot that we couldn't recognize.

Look, the official teaser is obviously more polished. But, the ship crash would have made a nice announcement teaser as well. Unfortunately, the ship crash storyline is not being used.
