Well that supposed pic of Prime just pushed me one more step closer to not seeing the movie altogether.

The only positive that I'm seeing in the release of this live action movie, is the re-release of Transformers: The Movie by Sony BMG on DVD.

So true.

If that is truly Optimus I'm very dissapointed. Why wouldn't they use the classic flat nose truck? It looks so much better then the Aardvark. This blows.

!
Based on the "tone" of the trailer, it seems like they aren't pushing this as a "kids" movie. Honestly, the new Transformers haven't been nearly as successful as the G1 versions. I think they could get a sizable chunk of the 25-35-ish men in this country to go see a big-budget G1 Transformers movie.

By changing nearly everything about the series but the name (and the symbols, thank GOD) aren't they running the risk of alienating the people that are familiar with the source material and just counting on kids that don't know any better to eat it up?

That just seems messed up to me. If I was sitting in a packed theater and the Transformers symbols appeared on screen, with a modern but recognizable "transforming" sound blasting from the loudspeakers, and Optimus Frigging Prime pointing his hand cannon at the audience, damn near every 30-ish guy in the room would be on their feet.

They are messing this up. BADLY.

Not to mention those same 25-35-ish men's (read: our) kids! What better way to indoctrinate a new generation of TF fans than by actually getting their parents as the supplier?

Oh hell yes! I'd rather my son (or daughter) play with modern version of the G1 Transformers than the new ones, a lot of which are unrecognizable to me.

Exactly.

Bay might end up getting himself killed for this. I can't even comment on that truck picture posted.

Draven: I'm not saying I'm not disappointed, I am. Majorly. I was merely stating that I doubt Bay and Co. take our opinions as meaning anything in the production of this surefire fiasco.

Robot form being exactly the same or not, the point is that Optimus Prime has far more class than having shitty flames on his sides. He's a leader, hero, and role model not a Fast & Furious reject.

That said, if they can come close to recreating his final run in the original movie, I'd be able to look past all that.

It'll be an interesting Comic-Con panel for sure.

I almost mentioned that punk bitch myself, but thought better of it. I hope you're not underhandedly supporting him Hot Rod had flames, that's fine, he's a hot rod. Rodimus was an evolution of that. I have no idea what type of real world vehicle Rodimus actually was, but he does look like a F&F reject to me. Besides he's G2 and I don't care about him even if he was voiced by John Bender.

nah. no love for rodimus at all from me. it might be something in my subconscious where i was devasted by the Optimus situation in the movie and my hate just projected on his replacement i.e. rodimus.

oh, and i'm none to fond of Ultra "I can't deal with it now!" Magnus, neither.

Oh, I don't doubt your disappointment

And I agree that they aren't really concerned with fans of the original series. Which still begs the question: Why are they making a Transformers movie without what most Trans-fans consider to be THE Transformers?

I wonder if someone will do a kick-ass "fan film" that actually gets it right. Keep it on Cybertron and you wouldn't even need actors.

Here's hoping - but apparently he's going to have flames on his robot form too - I am not a happy camper.

I found this blog entry in regards to upcoming "The Transformers" movie and Paramount actions to shut down any "leaks" for this movie.

I don't understand the secrecy and Paramount actions. What is Michael Bay doing that he wants to hide it from the fans?

Most likely because they don't want to deal with the TransFans wrath (and bad press) for the rest of the year... considering that they are not staying true to the original likeness and source material.

I'm not sure if this was posted or not but here is the link of an official Michael Bay message board in which you can go about and ask questions and he "answers" to them (the link was taken from AICN).

I read in USAToday yesterday that they are planning on re-releasing the DVD of Transformers:The Movie with lots of extras, a commentary track, and a look at Bay's film. Looks like I will be upgrading.
