I saw it, didn't really think it was worth a mention. Nemo had a cameo in Monsters Inc.

SHREK was based on a book that was written LONG before Monsters, Inc. was even conceived.

Don't get me wrong, I love Pixar animation too, but I think you're reaching there, dude.

But they CHOSE that PARTICULAR text because they new Disney/Pixar had a monster related story in the works. When Katzenberg jumped ship he started Dreamworks and used everything he knew about what Disney had on deck to try and compete with similar output.

Just look at Shrek. The whole thing is a dig at Disney. That's why dreamworks animation sickens me. They can't just be content to do something and do it well, they have to constantly draw attention to the fact that they desperately want to rub Disney's nose in s***. Shrek is the most henious example.

Deep Impact/Armageddon and Volcano/Dante's Peak are incredibly more derivative than anything Dreamworks has done animation wise. Either you need to indict the movie industry as a whole or focus your attention to other titles first.

Imitations like that happen for different reasons. The similarity of Dreamworks animation to existing Disney projects can be directly linked to one man: Jeffery Katzenberg.

What I'm talking about here isn't my opinion, it's a known fact. Katzenberg jumped ship and set up Dreamworks animation with the intent of stealing Disney's thunder with similar projects.

I have no love for Disney I assure you.

But if, "you have to realize that Dreamworks' existence is not simply a means by which Katzenberg can skewer his former employer" then how how do you explain the fact that everything in Shrek is a parody or satire of Disney? From the King's ultra-sanitary "kingdom" with little singing dolls to the suggestion that this King is co-opting age old characters and enslaving them. Offering the original owners a pitance and then doing as he pleases with them (Winnie the Pooh anyone?)

Just thought I'd bring this back up cause I'm counting fown the hours until I get to see it again!! I'm taking my girlfriend Saturday, who just happened to get a job at a pet store working in the fish department. Yay, or something?

The wife and I took our 2 1/2 year-old daughter today, and this was teh 2nd movie she's ever been to. She only lasted 35 minutes at Piglet's Big Adventure ... but this movie had her in her seat 99% of the time.

I'm telling you, this is high praise for Pixar. She wouldn't stay in her seat during that first movie, while Finding Nemo had her mesmorized. There was one point where she was a bit scared (more a result of the sounds than the action) but she never talked, cried out or tried to run down the aisles.

As for me, I love Pixar films and did enjoy this one as well. I did't think it was their best effort, but I'm sure it's one that will really grow on me after repeat viewings. Because once we get the DVD in November-December (the timeframe I'm estimating) we'll probably have to watch it 1,500 times

Supposedly, one of the cars from the upcoming Pixar movie titled "Cars" made a cameo in the movie too.

I haven't read every page but did anyone mention seeing Mike Wazowski during the credits?

BTW: Saw it last night. Loved it.

And the credit sequence is worth staying through -- all of the characters come back for a curtain call of sorts. Very cute and funny.

Just got back now and the movie was amazing. I was annoyed that Knick Knack was edited but Pixar just can't seem to do any wrong. Sign me up for the collectors edition.

Great movie, can't wait to pick it up when it comes out on DVD.

Just got back from it tonight... what an amazing film. In my opinion it is easily the best Disney/Pixar film to date.

The story is just perfect, and the characters are just fantastic.

I must say, though, that so far i am not very thrilled about "The Incredibles" ...i feel like Pixar should stay away from humans, especially the whole "super-hero" thing. I dont know though.

Anyway, Finding Nemo is brilliant and just became my favorite animated film ever...seriously.

This was a very good movie. Is it just me or does anyone else think that Pixar is the future of Disney and their animation studio is in a serious slump. The cartoon preview about the bears just did not interest me one bit, but The Incredibles looks to be another Pixar winner. I also enjoyed Knick Knack.

I thought Finding Nemo was a great film. This is like the best Disney movies, it is made up of great characters. IMHO Dora, Bruce, Crush, and Nemo's aquarium mates were a great supporting cast.

HA! Didn't the Monsters Inc DVD double the first week sales of Dreck..? IIRC MI did 5 million units. Also, MI did $20 mil more than Dreck did opening weekend, and beat it out in worldwide box office. (I think Dreck barely beat MI for domestic totals).

Great movie, I cannot wait to get this on DVD, I will be like having a fish tank in my TV set.

I won't be spending more money to see it, I have to save my money for the other 3 or 4 movies my family wants to see this summer.

But Shrek beat Monsters, Inc. by receiving the very first Academy Award for Feature Animation.

So there's that.

And everybody knows that only great movies win the Oscar. I mean come on! THE LIFE OF EMILE ZOLA, GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT, THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH, AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, OLIVER, TOM JONES, DRIVING MISS DAISY and ORDINARY PEOPLE!!! Those movies rule! They've proven themselves and stood the test of time, everybody's seen them, has them in their collection and considers them the finnest specimens of filmmaking ever. Truely in the pantheon.

And what about the others? THE GODFATHER? BRAVEHEART? SILENCE OF THE LAMBS? Yeah, totally forgettable box-office bombs.

And may I remind you that Pixar has won Oscars for TIN TOY, GERi'S GAME, and a special achievement for TOY STORY?
