Look obviously all I'm saying is that the Oscar is a measure of nothing. The list of Oscar's truely great pics is about one page long, where as the list of headscratching mistakes and appalling omisions is as long as my arm (hell, both arms!).

While entertaining to watch, the Oscar awards are a Hollywood popularity contest where quality is one of the least important qualifiers for an award. To use "such and such won an Oscar" in an arguement is to instantly discredit yourself. Mel Gibson and Kevin Costner have best director Oscars, but Kubrick, Hitchcock, Scorsese, and Welles never won one.
And may I remind you that Pixar has won Oscars for TIN TOY, GERi'S GAME, and a special achievement for TOY STORY?
And it's the Oscars that made these good right? If they hadn't won they would have sucked.

And by whose standards? Yours?

Should we take your opinion as THE definite measure by which these films are deemed "headscratching mistakes?"

And by the way, isn't this a thread about FINDING NEMO?

Not about THE OSCARS
Not about Katzenberg and Dreamworks.

FINDING NEMO.

Brilliant flick.

I did not find the animation to be "spectacular." The only parts that looked very good to me were when the fish had just came out of the water and were glistening. I assume they are not trying to achieve realism, as the humans look very cartoonish, so I really don't see a difference between Nemo and other similar films like Shrek, Monsters Inc, etc. The animation in each looks about the same. They all look good but not breathtaking.

Pants - you should start your own animation company and derail all of Dreamworks' lineup.

And since this IS about Finding Nemo, I thought it was a very good film in a summer with a few of them. I'm not sure how I would stack it against everything else though. Not quite as heart-tugging as Monsters Inc. but probably the most action I've seen in a Pixar film yet. DVD is a must get.

Quite frankly, the Disney vs. Dreamworks (or by extension, Pixar vs. PDI) rivalry might be a good thing, in that I hope both companies will push the envelope in terms of both storytelling and technology.

On the other hand, it might inspire them to rush out product ahead of schedule just to be "first".

Blecch.

What, no love for these birds?

Pixar/Disney also won an Oscar on this hilarious short animation. Eventhough if For The Birds didn't win anything, it would still be a great short, IMO.

Just caught the movie with my girlfriend on wednesday. Not bad. Not as funny as the previous Pixar movies, but more heartwarming at the end. Unfortunatly crying and loud kids made may have caused some of my enjoyment to dwindle.

Mind if I bump, two years minus three days later?

Absolutely hilarious film. Loved every minute of it and every character. My wife is going to kill me soon, because I've been walking around the house for the past few days saying, "Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!"

It doesn't need a sequel, but if there is one I'll be there. Well, maybe not in the theater because children give me hives, but I'll definitely see it eventually.
