Texas Chainsaw remake

They aren't even changing the time period. I really don't see the point. Eh, what do I know?
Gotta love the "Based on a True Story" part. That's just desperation right there.

Piss on everyone who decided to do this pointless film. The creative changes they make including the hysterical girl hitchhiker instead of the old nutjob from the original 1974 film look terminally lame--and WTF is up with the new family, including some fat Zelda Rubinstein-esque woman? Stylistically and every other way this can only be a complete failure. The original Saw is a masterpiece and no 'remake' or 'reimagining' of it can possibly compete.

I thought this was supposed to be the more thrilling less violent remake. I didnt think the first was very violent. Mostly implied. This one is rated R for STRONG HORROR VIOLENCE/GORE!!!!! By the way here is a pic of leatherface.
Looks pretty goofy.

The only thing that makes me puke is how everyone on this board dumps on movies they haven't even seen. Looks like it'll be good to me - plenty of talent and whatnot. Only troubling things about this to me are that I saw Tobe Hooper's name and the fact that we've had a bunch of these movies in the last few years... Wrong Turn, 1000 Corpses, and Jeepers Creepers. Then there's another one coming to theaters soon I think that also looks good. Genre fans should be all over this... I can't understand all the blind hatred. Where I'm from, we call that ignorance.
Given the choice between a remake and a sequel - I'd rather have a remake of an old classic than a sequel to a recent mediocre movie. Also, given the choice between a remake of a classic film made in the US and a remake/butchering of a classic foreign film, I'd prefer the former to the latter.

I still don't get why people think the original O-11 was bad. It was a different movie from different era and it had all the things that were hot back then.
The Rat Pack, Booze, Women, Vegas...

Out of morbid curiosity, I'm sure I'll go see it. Plus, the dude playing Biel's boyfriend looks mighty hot.....fills out those jeans really well.

I'm there. Why? I believe we need a new TCM for our generation and what better to have that then the TCM itself.
I personally would see a remake over a craptacular sequel like TCM: TNG.

Actually, this isn't blind hatred. PunchDrunkBob posted a link to the trailer. We watched it. We formed our initial impressions about it. I call that informed hatred. Big difference.I'll take option 3, Pat: ORIGINAL ideas & stories. There's a "fresh" trend Hollywood should latch onto..

There was no option 3 - "given a choice between..." Of course originality is best... even though every story that can be written has already been written.

Anyway, I think the trailer looks good. I'm digging some of the cinematography. Like others, though, I'm afraid this is going to be another Wrong Turn or Jeepers Creepers or House of a 1,000 Corpses (which I absolutely -hated-).
But yeah, count me in for now.

I think it looks great. Sure, TCM is a classic, but in many ways, it's a flawed movie. And, I'm sure this one will be flawed as well. That doesn't mean it won't be fun to watch. There's a lot of money and a lot of talent behind this, and I can't imagine that it's going to be awful.
I just wish I had known they filmed TCM here in Austin before they built the La Frontera shopping center over the place where the homes used to be.

My opinion is based on the trailer, and you say that it looks good because of the trailer. Both of our opinions are based on the same thing, so why do the negative opinions make you puke and not your own? You haven't seen it either.
I've never eaten a spoonful of dogshit, but I don't have to to know I wouldn't like it.
Honk!

I'm with you Charlie Goose.
Even though I've only seen the trailer, I'm not going to watch this remake, cause frankly, what can they bring to the table that Tobe Hooper hasn't already done with the original?
This project is also proof that Hollywood is bankrupt with new ideas.

Well said Trigger.
I will be seeing this. I am going to go in with an open mind and not be expecting the original. Should hollywood be thinking of original ideas? Sure. That's a given. But with the lack of horror movies being produced, I will take what I can get.
