Re: Why Remaking Texas Chainsaw Massacre doesn't bother me

I've been wondering to myself for awhile why I'm not as bothered by this remake as I have been for others. I think it comes down to this... there have been 4 TCM movies prior to this 'remake'. There is the original of course, and it's 3 sequels. Part 2 is a true sequel, but what about the other two? Part 3 has little continuity with the previous films, with the exception of the Leatherface character. And part 4 is not only horrid, but it's pretty much a camped-up remake itself. In fact, all the sequels have essentially been 'remakes' of the original in the sense that there really isn't much of a storyline that is progressed in each installment. If you're going to complain about the original's vision being tainted, well, that was done years ago.

Yes. Calm down everyone. So people didn't like the remake, that's o.k. It doesn't mean the original is literally any worse. In fact, it probably makes the original look better. I didn't like the Psycho remake...but I still love the original.

And the best thing about remakes is that the original still exists in it's original form without somebody else shooting first, or screaming like a little girl. You can choose one or the other.

Help! Song in the beginning of Texas Chainsaw Massacre Trailer, Who is it??
Who sings that beautiful song in the beginning of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre trailer. It only plays for about 7 seconds in the beginning. Its sung by a girl with a nice voice.
However it's not in the film's soundtrack. Does anybody know?
GO HERE FOR THE SAMPLE ---- www.apple.com/trailers and
click on Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Thanks.

It's "Song to the Siren" by This Mortal Coil. Vocals by Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins.
EDIT: There seems to be some debate whether the version in the trailer is actually This Mortal Coil or not. Some people report that Renee Firner, lead singer of the defunct band Moneypenny, did this version (which sounds very very close to the This Mortal Coil version). If this is true, however, there is no full version of Renee's rendition available.
But if you like the song, you can find it on This Mortal Coil's album "It'll End in Tears".
It was originally a folk song written by Tim Buckley.
