Any word on when the Tom Clancy films will be released?

My DVD collection would be a lot bigger if some of these titles would get the treatment (16:9, COM, etc) they deserve.

I personally can't wait for the Robin Hood: PoT re-release. I always loved that movie. Michael Wincott always makes for a good movie with his deep raspy voice.

According to AICN, Disney is going to start releasing Studio Ghibli's movies. On April, Spirited Away, Laputa, and Kiki's delivery service are all going to get 2 discs treatment.

Black Hawk Down CE

Hi all ,

I originally posted this as a separate thread, then realized it would be better here. In case you missed it, here it is:

Several retailers apparently have received notification from Columbia that the long promised Black Hawk Down CE is going to be released early this summer, around June. It's about time - I've been dying to get my hands on this. Can't wait for the Special Forces commentary track!

DVDFile is reporting a May 13 release for a new 2 disc SE of There's Something About Mary. It will include the Farrelly Bros. commentary from the original release, a new Farrelly Bros. commentary, commentary by the writers, 13 deleted and extended scenes with commentary, original claymation opening credits, multiple documentary featurettes, music video, foreign language clips, still gallery, karaoke version of "Buttercup" and something called Behind the Zipper (perhaps a parody of VH1's Behind the Music?).

Oh, and it will be available in separate anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen versions.

Sister Act re-release?

Buy.com is showing a re-release of "Sister Act" on Feb. 4 with an anamorphic transfer and featurette. It also shows a re-release of "Sister Act 2," but doesn't mention an anamorphic transfer. I believe these titles were mentioned last fall on DVDFile as coming last November.

I would really hold off and wait for an actual review, as many of
Buena Vista's reissued dvd's claiming to be anamorphic are not.

I know this is probably a bit early but how about a re-release for the Bourne Identity. The current release is not bad but I felt that the caliber of this movie warranted much more making of material. The current 15 minute "Birth of" does not do the movie justice.

BladeRunner SE
True Lies 5-star
Predator 5-star

I've been hearing how they are to be re-release for a VERY long time now but still no hard release dates. I sold my copies of each a while back in anticipation but still nothing. Has anyone heard when and if these are truely coming out?

Added There’s Something About Mary, Liar, Liar.

Removed Free Willy, An Affair To Remember, All About Eve, The Harder They Come, How Green Was My Valley.

Also removed Coyote Ugly (R-rated). I think this has been bogus all along.

Regarding Punch-Drunk Love: the bare-bones version that was supposed to come out on April 1st has been postponed. This could mean that Columbia has decided to wait for Andersons involvement and the special features and release just one version, which would be the special edition. Keeping it on the list, though.

If the 18/02/2003 release of “Rules Of Attraction” doesn’t contain the unrated version and Roger Avary’s, Bret Easton Ellis’s and James Van Der Beek’s commentaries, there is a good chance that this will get re-released. Avary has said that the unrated version would be on the dvd and he has recorded a commentary, as have Ellis and Van Der Beek, but they seem to be missing from the discs that have been reviewed on some websites. I’m adding it to the list as a rumored. But, who knows, maybe all of the features will be on the disc that is released in February.

And finally... could someone refresh my memory about some of the animated Disney flicks that are on this list. Should they even be on it? I haven't been following some of the discussions about Disney SE's...

A street date has not been set for us (United States), but it's expected sometime mid 2003.

------------------------------------------------
From HTF Peter Staddon Chat 12/2/02:
[SteveK] Thanks for being here. Fox puts out some of the BEST releases. Any chance we'll see an R1 release of Predator SE soon?

[peterstaddon] Not soon, but probably in mid 2003. Predator 2 wiill be coming out before that.
-------------------------------------------------

Anyway, check out the review here. And Amazon U.K. has the R2 release listed.

BladeRunner SE- always up in the air it seems. Might be coming this year, but no gurrantees.
True Lies 5-star- no 5-star label. It's coming late 2003/early 2004.
Escape From NY SE- was delayed till december 2003. Definately coming though.

Production termination

I have not found an answer to a question I have. Please point me in the right direction. My question is how, can I know when production of any given DVD title is stopped. For example "Fight Club" has disappeared. When was that information first available?

Do you mean that you want a list of OOP (out of print) DVDs? If so, check in the Frequent Topics thread, also stickied to the top of the forum. I posted a link to the topic in there.

I suppose what I am asking is for a way to know in advance, that a given DVD will complete its production run and disapear off store shelves. An advance OOP list?

Anybody know if the Xena and Hercules season box sets will become available off their main website? Waiting 6-8 weeks for delivery is a bit much.

Not that I'm aware of. Generally, retailers get a notice from the distributors that they will no longer be able to order a title that is going OOP as of a certain date. Those notices eventually filter their way to DVDTalk and other sites. Basically, just keep up with this forum. Just today, Criterion changed the status of How to Get Ahead in Advertising to OOP on their website and it was shortly posted here.
