shouldn't Babe be in line for special edition treatment? the current DVD was released in 1997 i think, and it's a pan & scan atrocity with no real extras.. it was nominated for best picture at the Oscars for crying out loud! i'm very surprised that doesn't even seem to be in the pipeline for a new, bigger and better DVD release.

Columbia House has Fargo SE and Rain Man SE up for preorder (3/4/2003) at $21.95 - this better not be a cruel joke.

Expect all Alien movies to be released this year. Forget about 5 Star though. Fox is droping the Five star label. That is disapointing as they were going to do Aliens and True Lies as five stars. So Sad! They should be good releases still.

What confirmation do you have of all the Alien movies? Extensive discussion here has led to the conclusion that on Alien is confirmed.

Batman?

What about Batman ? Or Batman Returns ? I just know there had to be a ton of deleted scenes for Tim Burton's Batman . Not to mention I'd love a commentary track and a better transfer.

I've heard rumors off and on about it from other forums - but you guys seem to have a better heads on up what is true and false.

*prays it is true*

facets.org lists the following in their New Video Releases section as available on 4/1/03:

A Delicate Balance - adapted from Edward Albee's play, with K Hepburn, Lee Remick, Paul Scofield, Joseph Cotten. I don't think this one was ever on VHS.

Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris - This one intrigues me as I know the music but had no idea there was actually a filmed performance of this show.

Don't know the studios scheduled to release these so if anyone knows anything please share.

Update.

Added Straw Dogs, Always, American Graffiti, The Andromeda Strain, *batteries not included, Brazil, The Breakfast Club, Fahrenheit 451, The Last Starfighter, Legal Eagles, Weird Science. Also added are LOTR 2 and LOTR 3. This is something new… I’m adding something to the re-release list before the actual first release. I guess it’s a fair assumption that they will follow the same release pattern as the Fellowship Of The Ring.

Why Amores Perros? The edition out now is great already.

Also where is the confirmation about the dates posted for the universal titles?

Added Punch-Drunk Love, Cliffhanger SB, Bad Boys SB, In The Line Of Fire SB.

Removed Always, *batteries not included, American Graffiti, Brazil, The Last Starfighter. Turned out these are just price drop re-releases. Also removed Much ado about nothing, Heave Metal 2000 SB, Resident Evil SB, Tommy SB.

I'm not sure judging by the cheap price, but there was earlier rumor that FOX was redoing The Abyss just as they're redoing the Alien movies.

Your guess is as good as mine. I would have said it's just a price drop, but I think the single-disc edition was already at that price. Also, they have a listing for a Five Star edition (which is available now), but judging by the cover art and what we know about the fate of the Five Star line, it has to be the two-disc set that was available for a while then discontinued.

In the recent HTF chat with Peter Staddon, he said that they would be bringing back their 2-disc sets from time to time, in digipacks. Maybe this is a rerelease of that same 2-disc set in a new case. I think if it was getting an anamorphic transfer, we would have heard about it by now.
