Universal Classic Monster Discs
Does anyone know if these will be re-released or why they went out of print. I've written Universal, but have had no reply. I was looking into buying "Bride of Frankenstein" and some of the others later on when I found they had gone out of print. Any information is appreciated. Thanks

Any word on "The Saint" , the current is $14 everywhere I look, is this because its a stripped down paramount release or is there talks of a special edition of some sort in the future. would I be better off buying the current version?..
also, does anyone know why they released the Patriot in Superbit, but have done nothing with Braveheart?

My hats off to Paramount for the Director's Cut of ST: The Motion Picture on DVD. The movie was truly enhanced by the changes and I liked the extras...

R1 Predator SE hasn't been officially confirmed, but since the special features are already complete (for the R2, R4 releases) I think it is 100% certain that it will be released in R1 eventually. Fox is probably just on a holding pattern since they have already released it three times in R1 land.

NEW TERMINATOR SPECIAL EDITIONS?
New Terminator DVD Boxset!
Reported By: Ulf Kristensson
Thursday, October 31, 2002
Next year, just before the Rise of the Machines, MGM Home Entertainment will release an all new DVD special edition boxset containing both T1 and T2.
Although this set will not become available until a date close to T3's release, we tried to get some info from MGM.
MGM: "At this time, I'm not sure of the title of the Terminator gift set. Our creative team will begin discussing the layout and title early next year. It will definitely be a two-disc set."
Our guess is this DVD 2-pack will be released several weeks prior to T3 and MAY contain a coupon good for one free adult ticket to see "T3: Rise of the Machines". For more information on the new DVDs and their features you'll need to "stick around!"

Update.
Removed Grinch, Star Trek 3, High Noon, Rio Grande and Quiet Man.
Removed the speculated release year 2002 from many titles.
Added Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, All About Eve, Affair To Remember, How Green Was My Valley and Cinema Paradiso. Stargate UE moved to 2003. Added the speculated (and pretty much certain) superbit versions of Spider-Man, MIIB and Triple X.
Nothing to report about Robocop except that it is out in R2 for example (inc. both versions) so R1 can’t be too far away.
Don’t know about Harry Potter either. A new version was reported on some websites but because I’m not that interested in it, I haven’t been looking for it since.
”Leon: a commentary edition?”
Nope. Besson doesn’t do commentaries.
”Magnolia: same as above?”
P. T. Anderson didn’t want to record one. He thinks the documentary is enough and he wants the movie to speak for itself.
”The Man Who Fell To Earth: anamorphic and the commentary/extras like the laserdisc?”
I don’t think this has been released on dvd so the dvd that is coming in 2003 from Anchor Bay isn’t a re-release. It’s going to be a good package.Check their website for more info.
”Out of Sight: a better transfer and combining the DTS/DD tracks? Tremors: anamorphic? Galaxy Quest: maybe combining the DTS/DD and a commentary? While You Were Sleeping: commentary, anamorphic, etc?”
Don’t know.
”The Abyss: anamorphic and audio commentary?”
I think the current version was the best they could come up with (there were some problems regarding the anamorphic transfer). As for a commentary: you wish! I think the current version is a pretty safe buy.
”Braveheart, Saint, Ghost in the Darkness, Heat?”
Don’t hold your breath.

According to Criterion's website the re-release of Beauty and the Beast will contain a new 5.1 soundtrack and four audio commentary tracks including one by writer and cultural historian Sir Christopher Frayling, the dvd will also contain the film's original soundtrack.Look for it to be re-released in early 2003.
