Right anyone help?

Has anyone done a comparison between the American quad set and the Japanese Quad set? are they identical apart from DTS and the special edition of each film only on the Japanese dvd version?

as if they are identical in every other way I need to get rid of one, so anyone went thru both versions yet and checked everything! a lot to do and thats why I aint done it yet.

anyone go on you know you want to.

Back up at HMV!!

My two have shipped, finally. Took a little while to get out of the gate.

People had problems getting it last time I posted. Keep trying. The process is very slow. I eventually got through. Had two windows going at times, just to get credit card info entered.

http://www.hmv.co.jp/product/detail.asp?sku=1892050

Good luck.

Awesome, thanks Molson, just ordered two. They went through smoothly, only thing that worried me was the tiny shipping charge...

Yes. In a couple of days, you'll get an email saying the shipping is around 17690 YEN ($159 USD), for my area anyway. And, you'll have to confirm you wish to keep the order at this rate.

Ah, thanks Molson, so they'll email me asking for me to confirm the shipping charge? I'm guessing that's when it'll all post to my CC.

Got to love HMV and their 40%(or more) markup they do on all their items, after you order. They did the same crap with the Kill Bill Vol 1 set. I am amazed at the amount of money they make off of shipping alone. Also add to the fact that amazon's shipping is under $10 for the same item. Granted amazon has flat rates, but still, there is no way it would cost $159 to mail it.

I have learnt a lesson after also getting the more expensive shipping charge. That is never to order from HMV again but always order from Amazon.co.jp. Would of been cheaper for the set to.

Actually they are giving you a substantial discount on the freight. The actual freight you would get charged:

Get Rates
FedEx Express Results
Shipment Information
Origin JAPAN
Packaging My Package
Destination CANADA
Weight 8 kgs

Available FedEx Express Services Freight Charge
FedEx International Priority JYE 28,020

So before you spout off, you might want to actually double check facts before slating a retailer. The only thing you could criticize HMV on is their reliance on Fedex for all shipping as Fedex is extremely expensive for international freight..

its acctually 6.38 Kgs,
I know as I have 4.
it may not be much but its gonna effect your cost if they charge you for 8 Kgs!
and some sites are saying it weighs 9 kgs! not sure what set they have as they must be lyers and getting more cash out of people.

First off, they get a discount, probably a substantial one. Second, the weight you inputted is incorrect. So please, give it a rest.

There you go. And if you have no idea what their freight discount is, perhaps YOU should give it a rest. I actually deal with international freight as I regularly import vinyl and cd product from Australia, the UK, Holland, Japan, and Germany as a cd buyer. Any time you use one of the major courier companys as your freight forwarder you pay way too much, even if you or your sending party has a preferred discount rate. There are many other freight brokers who would be able to do it for much cheaper (i.e I'll get 50 kg out of Germany at that rate above) but unfortunately most companies go with a major courier as they provide all of the infrastructure for you rather than having to jump through brokers to act as an intemediary.

You still paid too much. Just because you 'deal with international freight' doesn't mean you have any idea what kind of rates a huge company like HMV would get. Not that I know either, I am just glad I paid $8 for shipping instead of over $100.

Well, they can charge it, and there's not much purchasers like myself can do about it. Amazon is out of stock.

Anyone in the U.S. have a previous experience with Amazon.jp and a package of this size/value when shipped economy? It's almost two feet long and has all those enticing Alien pictures and Japanese characters (writing) on it, not to mention "DVD" printed on it and it's not double boxed. I've never had a package from an overseas Amazon that needed a signature or had any sort of tracking or proof of delivery. Some postal worker along the way may find the AlienHead stealing urge overwhelming if the package isn't recorded. It'll probably be some jackass that doesn't know a thing about region codes.
Also, Amazon.jp says international economy to the U.S. is by sea and takes 2-3 weeks. Is that accurate? My package went economy on 05-28 and the delivery estimate says 05-31 to 06-09. Does that time frame make any sense? Is that the same estimate they sent to people who got express shipping? Express was my choice, but Amazon goofed it and sent me the shipping refund and a coupon. I guess that's to make me feel better if my package never arrives.
I wouldn't worry too much. I also selected Economy and I haven't received mine. I would say if you don't receive it by the end of the week, then start to worry. Don't forget, we had a holiday a week ago, that slowed things down.

just got mine today. they used DHL Express. i got the shipping notice on 5/27, and it arrived today on 6/7. it wasn't double-boxed, but luckily, the totebox didn't suffer any dings or dents. there was sufficient styrofoam inside to hold everything safely and securely, but i broke the thin bottom layer of styrofoam under the bust's base as i was trying to wedge the sucker out. very, very solid (and heavy) display piece, indeed! hope everyone else get them without problems, as i would hate to exact an exchange/return on such a huge package.

Did you pay for DHL or for their Economy? I ask because people have mentioned in the past that amazon.jp upgrades the shipping on their larger items.

I think he may have paid DHL Express, the shipping TF is about right, I did express for the Kill Bill set and decided to go cheap on this one, my shipping estimate isn't for another week-10 days.

i paid 900 Yen; if memory serves, i originally chose Economy during checkout. however, looking at the invoice again, it doesn't state which service was chosen, just "shipping charge".

Ok, thanks for the info, that was for Economy then. That is good to hear, as I was a little worried about the package going through the Post office with all of those markings on it, clearly showing what it is.
