That sucks that the North American release doesn’t get the Minus Color version. Guess I should have gotten the Japanese release.

The black & white version will get here eventually. They’re probably using the tactic of so many American companies: release them separately, no matter if it bugs people, then release yet another, deluxe combo edition down the road. They’ll milk it as much as they can because the American collector landscape basically allows it. To me, personally, having all those extras subtitled puts any American edition ahead of a pretty Japanese box, and yet I’ll still wait for it on sale. I’ll see the black & white version eventually, too, but there’s no rush.

I'm surprised Toho didn't take a page from Warner Bros, making the BD exclusive to the 4K SteelBook and Minus Color exclusive to a multi-film Godzilla box set.

Still pre-ordered the 4K Steelbook from Amazon. Hoping the price drops though as $55 is fairly steep.

I'll probably get the Standard 4k release and if the Black and White version becomes available maybe buy it digitally.

It looks like there's a dub on these releases? I may grab one at Christmas time for that to go with my Japanese set.

The deluxe Japanese-style edition is "September". No release date, AFAIK, for the other editions.

Barnes & Noble very briefly had a release date of November 19 when their listings went up. It could be the release date for the US editions. If it's not November 19, it will likely be some type of end of year release.

Thanks for posting those. I’d completely forgotten to check for this one up here since I knew it was coming eventually. Based on those pictures, it’s also a relief to see that Toho didn’t ruin the artwork with a second French logo, because Canada or whatever. I’m curious what that first behind-the-scenes supplement entails, and how long it runs (or its components run). Presumably it’s the same content from the Japanese edition, but the subs will be a huge improvement. I’d also be fine if they don’t port over quite so much of the ‘local screening intros’ and soft cast interviews videos from the import set, which seemed to have an excess of that stuff.

November 19 is the release date for the US editions. It has been updated from various retailers.

Nice to see an English dub on those US releases, I'll keep an eye out for a cheap one down the road for completeness' sake.
