I ordered mine from Amazon on July 12 and my order is currently showing an arrival date of September 23.

Interesting. Mine is still showing that it hasn't shipped yet but has an "arriving" date of Sept. 14th. It had an original arriving date of the 8th but got moved to the 14th.

As others have mentioned, mine also got bumped to Sept 21, after previously being expected Sept 15. Maybe Amazon’s just paused selling it while they catch up on their orders.

Anyway, if anyone’s really worried about getting it, it’s still available for shipping from Bull Moose, Deep Discount (cheaper than Amazon if you use a 10% coupon), ImportCDs, Blowitoutahere, Walmart, and Barnes and Noble. It’s also available in-store only at Best Buy.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

Now I just have to hope and pray that my over-priced, super limited TMP boxed set doesn't get trashed in shipping because Amazon shipped in a bubble mailer or unprotected in an over-sized box.

I'll stick the discs in a 4-disc case (probably my Deadpool 2 4K UHD) and combine that with the regular TMP 4k UHD when I get the rest of the movies in that format, either boxed set or individual releases. But I still want the box for the limited edition to be in mint condition even if I'm not using it.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

My copies of V and VI have been sitting in a local warehouse since Tuesday morning. Not coming today, either. As mentioned before, my TMP Director's Edition got bumped to next week - but I've heard that's a studio thing (they didn't get copies out to retailers).

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

My TMP Box set from the UK just arrived in L.A. and should be here at home on Friday at some point.

My V & VI arrived yesterday.

Amazon UK updated their stock to dispatched within 1-2 months from 1-4 weeks, so I'll go out on a limb and say their allotment is gone. They had the best deal by far if you used that app discount last week that I posted about.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

Got mine in yesterday evening in a large & loose-fitting bubble pack. I don't mind stuff shipping in bubble packs if they at least fit snuggly. It is when Amazon shipped stuff in too large of a box or package that items get beat to fuck.

Anyway, mine arrived in decent condition but the outer box/case is a little roughed up along the bottom. I can live with it but it is annoying when you pay so much for something and get it non-minty shape. The little extras in the package are cool but who thought this was a good way to pack the discs? The first disc section was near impossible to get the disc out without either messing up the disc or the cardboard holding the disc. I eventually got mine out and just moved the Blu-ray to that section since I will not be viewing it over the 4K discs.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

I got my TMP Director's edition set last night. It was also packed in a bubble envelope. I was surprised how small it actually was compared to the original press photos. The box for the most part looks fine, but there is a minor bend at the top, but I'm fine with it.

I managed to sell my digital code for $5 so it helped offset the cost to around $78. I don't think I'll buy another set like this for just one movie even if there are 3 cuts. It's pretty expensive. But, I made the exception since it's Star Trek.

BTW, I did think it's a little weird that there is a note from the director Robert Wise about this new cut even though he's been dead for 17 years. I am aware he worked on this cut 20+ years ago and the 4K version was done by a new team.

My UK set just arrived. It was in perfect condition and that was really fast shipping since it shipped this past Sunday. It was originally quoted for Monday 9/12 before settling for tomorrow, then they updated to today. DHL, ftw!

My 4K ST V replacement should arrive from Amazon USA today.

Mike Matessino, David C Fein, and Daren Dochterman were the guys behind the 2000 and 2022 versions of the DE. https://trekmovie.com/2022/04/03/int...edition-to-4k/

I hate how flimsy the outer box is. I have creases and marks all over the thin sides. Luckily the front and back are fine. Just stupid packaging overall but I'll live.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

I admit that I feel that I got lucky in that other than a small ding on one or two sections of the outer edges of the box, the box set still looks great. I might open it and watch because this is one of only 2 Star Trek films I have not seen (this film, and I believe the Next Gen film Generations).

Amazon sure does love them some bubble mailers, now if only what was inside the mailer was also wrapped in bubble wrap, lol.

Decided to also order The Wrath of Khan. Should have it by Thursday and the TMP deluxe set on Wednesday.

I got the 6-Film collection and passed on the "complete adventure" for Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Is this padded television version really worth it or something I'll watch once and forget? I am a fan of the movie but don't feel like spending out big bucks for what is 10-12 minutes of scenes.

I must wait until October 3rd for the basic TMP Director's Cut. I can handle it.

Its got some good moments that never should have been cut in my opinion but there’s also a nostalgia factor since it was on VHS and LD for so many years and that’s what many people would have watched.

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

Phantom, I will probably open my set up and watch because while I am far from a Trekkie, as I noted just a few posts before this one, it is a film I have never seen (on tv/VHS/laserdisc/DVD/blu ray) and if I get the itch to sell it I might be pleasantly surprised and find that I can still get a fair re-sale price even with it being opened because it does seem to be a set that will be for the most part OOP pretty soon (Amazon is back to saying it ships in 1-2 months, so basically sold out at Amazon).

As Kurt notes, those with patience can get the "regular" 4K soon enough without having to sell off your kid's first born children to pay for the set, lol!!

Re: Star Trek Films in 4K

Well, my Director's Edition was supposed to be arriving tomorrow from Amazon - got an email today that it was delayed until OCTOBER 20!

So I canceled and decided to splurge for the 5-disc UK version. I had another non-disc order from Amazon that was due today that also got bumped. In fact, by last five orders from Amazon have all been delayed...so much for those "PRIME Perks"

Guess I fell for the whole "limited" thing again.

This is on sale at Amazon for Black Friday for $48.99...$40 whole bucks less than what I paid for it just a couple of months ago. And I haven't even watched it yet. I feel sick...

I paid $55 for the UK version shipped, so this is roughly the same price once you factor in sales tax. Folks should get in on this one while they can.

I jumped on that Amazon price. I told my wife to put it under the tree for me.

(Sigh)

I upgraded my system the last few months with a Sony UBP-X700M and an LG C2 OLED.
Sat down to watch Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (Theatrical) and the disc locked up twice; when Valeris goes to Spock’s quarters, and later when they confront Valeris in sickbay.

Anyone else have an issue with this disc?

It's not the disc, it is the player. I have the Sony X700 and it is shit. Just look up reviews on other sites. It really chokes on BD100s.

You just never know when they say something is limited. Paramount pushed out a 4K SteelBook for Event Horizon which was super limited and disappeared from the market quickly. They finally are releasing a regular version but I wrongly bet they'd reissue more SteelBooks...they didn't.
