Wow, that's insane. Scooped a 30 Rock set to flip and a Shield set for myself.

Thanks. For that price, I simply cannot pass. If it doesn't get cancelled. Also got 30 Rock and Knight Rider.

The Wire and The Shield are my top two shows of all time. Pretty cool the same guy directed the first and last of both shows.

My order for The Shield is still active. Although DD has removed the listing for pretty much all the price errors. I also got Knight Rider, Community and 30 Rock. I didn't go crazy on this like those weirdos at Blu-Ray.com.

Anyways, if it goes through, great. If not, oh well. Apparently a lot of the orders for those at the other site have been cancelled citing credit card issues. I ordered going through Rakuten getting cash back and the cast back was added to my account.

The DD charges are pending on my CC as well.

Just got the cancellation emails. Damn, not surprised. Oh well. I’ll wait until The Shield hits around $60.

I keep checking on this periodically hoping for a nice price drop. However, 3 years later, it hasn't dropped below $80 and now has ballooned to $139 at most retailers including Amazon.


I know it's Mill Creek and they aren't known for "limited" products. But I wonder if there is a shortage on stock for this now hence the ballooned price? Usually when wholesale prices go up, the retailer has to balloon the price.

From what I can tell, Mill Creek presses almost all of their television inventory upfront and only drops pricing if they have a ton of leftover stock. While it's unlikely to have been a limited edition license, their business model probably doesn't lend itself to repressing an 18-disc set more than maybe once. The existing inventory may be it.

So yesterday this dropped back down to $79.99 on Amazon and I gave in and finally purchased it. It had been stuck in the mid to high $100s for awhile now.

This release has been out for 4 years now and it doesn't seem like it's going to get any lower than that. So I was content on finally getting it now than waiting another 6 months to 1 year in futility. The Shield is one of my favorite series of all-time and this seems to be the best version of it on physical media. I also look forward to finally watching the reunion documentary on the set.

BTW, I saw that the show just celebrated it's 20th anniversary of the Pilot airing yesterday (3/12/02)

Yeah, I doubt it ever gets cheaper. I have the DVDs and still been holding off on this particular purchase.

Guys, regardless of the price on this I'm reminding everyone the audio on this set is completely screwed up and is basically in mono as shown on thread #72
I ended up muxing the 2.0 audio from the DVD's with with the video from the BluRays.
