You mean to tell me a company like Shout/Scream Factory doesn't have some form of first article inspection of a release before they give the go on printing thousands of copies with their name on it? At least the disc art issue should have been caught if it's present on every single copy.

Someone is usually supposed to go over the check discs before having it mass replicated. That process invariably fails on large box sets, because the entire check can fall on one person that gets lazy.

Any company claiming to have "stringent quality control" would have a very mature first artcile inspection process. Otherwise they're full of shit when it comes to quality control.

Many Scream releases do seem like they fly out by the seats of their pants, though. Even on this Halloween set, there are little inconsistencies, like proper capitalization on bonus feature titles. Or the fact that the back cover of most films incorrectly state at least a few things, whether it be not listing all bonus features or (more commonly) getting the A/V specs wrong. Again, these are niggling details but things many people do notice.

My guess is that this is chalked up to the HHH production and not Shout Factory.

I noticed a typo in the new Twin Peaks feature that was similarly about filming locations then and now.
Also Shout uses the spelling "Cohen" instead of "Coen" on their Crimewave Blu.

aka - A first article inspection. It's a minimum reiquirement of any company that wants to claim it has a quality system in place.

The downside of being a fan is that it is rarely "real fans" doing a lot of the work. If they were, there would not be little things like a picture from Part 4 on the cover of Part 1 or music from Part 4 playing during the menu of Part 3 (I'm talking to YOU Nightmare On Elm Street!!). Yes, these are minor quips, but a little something goes a long way in presenting these series' with some integrity.

If they were smart, they'd give ten sets to some real "fans" to QC. And as payment, they receive a free box set. I would guarantee few to zero mistakes in the final product.

I guess generally when it comes to QC issues unless its something huge that will hinder my enjoyment of the disc(s) in question I'm usually not too bothered. Products are put together by people and everyone makes mistakes or misses thing like typos or what have you.

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray
Scream Factory licenses most of their content, they don't own digital streaming rights to the movies they release on DVD and Blu-ray. The studios will not be licensing out digital streaming rights to anyone. That's why the trend towards licensed Blu-ray releases is troublesome if you want to future-proof your digital collection when you buy a BD.

Did a test and can confirm that the mono track on Halloween 1 is the original track and not a downmix. (play the opening scene in the rain and its obvious)
