Don't be surprised if this gets a smaller non-limited set later. That's what they did with the Halloween set.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

So reading the press release off of facebook the current preorder is limited to 1313 units of the 13,000 so that makes me feel a little bit better to just wait for the Amazon preorder.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

There is a few bonuses if you order it direct from Shout, but I know most of guys don't care for those.

I don't think it's likely that Amazon will sell this set any cheaper. There's Shout movies that sell on Amazon for almost the same price. I think it's been discussed here before, but I think Shout marked up the wholesale prices for their content, so Amazon doesn't really have any wiggle room to sell it much cheaper.

Considering I made bank off selling the last set, I went ahead and ordered it from Shout. With the posters, I’ll make my money back. People really go crazy for the “bonus” stiff

I can’t remember for certain but I think the 15 disc Halloween set was listed for like $130 and I want to say I paid like $80-$85 off of Amazon. I’d have to go find the posts in that thread. Kinda doubt this goes for less though. Shout/Scream stuff usually doesn’t drop in price. Especially the last few years or so.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

Question for those who per-ordered with Shout Factory directly. Did you receive a confirmation email? I ordered when there was a lot of traffic on the page. If I go into my orders it shows the status as Order Taken, but I never received an email confirmation. I’m not seeing a pending charge to my card yet, and I received an automated email from Shout asking if I forgot something and when I log into my account it shows the set in my cart still. I emailed them but just wondering if anyone else had issues.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

I almost ordered this but while 3D is an amazing addition, it’s just not worth it for me. Not without either 4K or the uncut versions ( which probably don’t exist). I held onto my tin from a few years ago. It does look really nice though. I just have to stop double dipping on BD’s.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

The uncut version of The New Blood would be cool, but it sounds like it doesn’t really exist. That’s the one that a lot was cut from by the MPAA that a lot of fans have clamored for.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

It’s cool that they’re doing a new 3D transfer for those that want and can take advantage of. I no longer have a 3D tv, and never really got it to work properly when I had it. I would be curious to see how it looks in 3D because so many shots were clearly intended with it in mind.

It’s going to be cheesy and so much fun. I don’t think I ever got around to watching the shitty red/blue glasses dvd, but this will be welcome even if a conversion or would it? Wasn’t this released in 3D in theaters? Does that mean the Blu-ray 3D will be real and not fake?

The base for 3D is likely incredibly low, and useless to 99% of people buying this set. Did they ever make a 3D tv that was also 4K?

I wouldn’t say 99%.

95%.
And that’s coming from a horror movie nut that has a very good 3D tv.

OldBoy, Jay G. has already answered your question over in the 3D thread. Remember, if a film's more than 15 years old and was originally released in 3D, it's not a conversion, as that technology didn't exist then. Any film made before 2005 that was converted will be a super-blockbuster along the lines of The Wizard of Oz, Jurassic Park, Top Gun, or Titanic.

If you've never visited the "3D Film" page on Wikipedia, you should bookmark it, as it has links at the bottom of the page that take you to lists of pretty much every feature that's been released in 3D and whether the 3D was native or converted.

I don't think so. There might have been one or two models in the earliest days of 4K that had passive 3D.

3D should have been in the 4K/UHD spec if they wanted it to have any chance to catch on.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

Part 3 is especially pointless to watch in 2D since there are so many gratuitous gimmick shots of things coming out of the screen that just look silly that way, plus it was shot in over/under format so the 2D frames are about half the resolution of regular 2D films. (I think the 2D video transfers, at least the early ones, were made from 2D scope prints made for drive-ins which couldn't show polarized 3D. These transfers were also panned and scanned and just look awful.) LG's last passive 3D sets were 4K, and that enabled them to show passive 3D without the obvious resolution loss (looking like scan lines) that their earlier passive sets had.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

It’s still a watchable enough movie as is, but yeah Friday the 13th Part III would definitely be better in 3-D. I really doubt I’ll get a chance to watch it that way though so it’s kind of whatever. Like I say at least it’s there for those who want it.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

In a perfect world 3D capability would have been included on EVERY TV by now, instead of dropped because it didn't become the next big thing right away. You should always be able to watch movies like Friday the 13th Part 3 (which should have been one of the launch 3D Blu-Ray titles) and all the classics.

And once again, no sign of Steve Miner anywhere. Such a shame. Aside from that, I'm loving that Part 5 has got two new commentaries.

Do you think 1 out of 20 people have a 3D TV and a 3D BD player?
