I find this beyond baffling since you can get the individual releases for under $10 each.

Damn I wish I had a Best Buy nearby. I don't suppose anyone here would be willing to snag me a copy? I'd pay the cost and shipping of course.

Bestbuy.com has them in stock. I placed a order. I'll see if I get it or not.

Might as well give it a try. I missed the last couple of times they popped up.

Went for it. The site says it's back ordered until March which is fine by me.

Collecting movies, as opposed to buying them on disc or other media- and I meant to be sarcastic saying that, as many have been saying it with a straight face. This isn't the first time I've heard of one version of a movie being "bought" on Vudu and then replaced with a different version.

Reminds me of a quote I heard a few years ago regarding the debate over physical media (DVDs, BDs, etc) vs. digital (downloads, streaming, etc) which was "If you can't loan it, you don't own it".

I bought the set when it first came out and immediately redeemed the digital copies on Vudu.

Since day 1 my Vudu shows Jason Goes To Hell as having an R-rating, but I'm pretty sure it's actually the unrated one. I just watched the tent sex/death scene near the beginning of the film and there's more in there than the R-rated one.

Since it's not a favorite of mine I'm afraid I don't know details about all the changes. IMDB info is not terribly useful for this either.

Does anyone know a specific line of dialogue or a very specific scene/image in the movie that is only in the unrated cut that I can check for?

Maybe this?
69 min
A shot of Shelby saying "Holy Shit" is missing and can instead be heard over the next scene in the R-Rated version.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

You know what? I just checked and it may be the unrated cut after all. The tent sex scene is severely cut in the R-rated cut but I just watched my VUDU version and it definitely has the extra gore.

So, in short, VUDU is the Unrated cut but is labeled as R.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

That is awesome! This was always a cheesy favorite of mine as is Jason X. Especially love that last scene. What about runtimes? Can you check by that or same runtime?

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

JGTH runtime is 1:30:45, so it's def the DC despite being listed as "R".

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

Just got an update that my order is still on backorder but due to be delivered by March 24th. And the set looks to no longer be available again. Still not sure if I'll get it or not.

Despite the R-rating label, VUDU still has the Unrated cut. The R-rated cut has an 88-minute running time, the Unrated cut is 90 minutes (VUDU clocks in at 90:45).

The tent sex scene is definitely unedited.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

It's mind-bogglingly fucking stupid that an "Ultimate Edition" would not include the unrated cut on the fucking disc.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

I finally started watching some of these for Halloween and I can't believe how terribly cheesy some of these movies are. I'm only through part 5 so far, but it's my first time watching them since I saw them when I was younger (and watched literally anything with boobies in them). I'm not entirely disappointed by my purchase, but don't see myself revisiting these movies again anytime soon.

Well when you're interested in boobies again, you'll know what to watch.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

Very true. None of the movies have a shortage of those so far, so at least the series has that going for it

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

Yeah, the franchise isn’t truly horrifying or anything. Lots of cheese, but that’s also part of the appeal of the films and to me what makes them rewatchable. It’s kind of a fun slasher series rather than taking itself overly serious where you have to be in the right mood. Not saying I watch the films over and over or anything, but I’ll maybe watch one during summer as they fit that time of year or on an actual Friday the 13th.
