The show is a mixed bag. It's really good at times, and really bad at others. The kid who plays John Connor is super annoying. On the other hand, the show really redeemed Brian Austin Green, who turns out to be pretty convincing as a badass. The series took a while to find its footing, but was finally building toward something interesting in the second season when it got canceled.
This. The show was on during the writers' strike. The second season starts pretty poorly but REALLY gets good near the end. It is a shame this didn't get a third season. Screw you, Fox!

I remember the guy who played John had said there were plans to make some DTV movies to continue the series. It's a shame those never happened.

Re: The Terminator: Remastered - 2/19/2013

This whole release is a microcosm of my love/hate relationship with Blu. When its a new release title, they most likely will knock it out of the park. But, when it's a release of a catalog title (most likely released on DVD first), its a definite coin toss. It's pathetic that a DVD released back in 2001 outclasses a Blu ray released in 2013. But, its not the technology that's at fault, its the authorship of the contents. They rarely see fit to transfer *all* the original DVD special features, but now they feel it necessary to digitally tinker with the film in some way to make all our films look like the Michael Bay-influenced films of today.

Which creates its own paradox. If Sarah and John jump forward in time from the '90s to 2008, bypassing the events of T3, that would mean that the Terminatrix would have arrived totally unchallenged in 2003 and activated Skynet. When Sarah and John show up in 2008, the world should be a nuclear wasteland.

Not if Skynet dropped that plan due to the Connors no longer being around

Re: The Terminator: Remastered - 2/19/2013

I liked Terminator:SCC. Season 1 was great except for the recurring despondent Sarah Connor voiceover which they didn't seem to have as much of in Season 2. I agree with Josh Z's sentiments about Season 2 which was almost twice as long as Season 1. It has some lulls but builds to an interesting cliffhanger which will now disturb me for the rest of my life because the show was cancelled. For the most part, I don't care more many network television shows, but I was happy I gave this one a chance even if it did leave me hanging in the end. It has its flaws for sure, but I really appreciate what they were trying to do with it. Might have been better if it had been on HBO.

But she wasn't sent back to kill John Connor. She was there to plant the virus that would activate Skynet.

I don't like the color change but the image is so beautiful otherwise that I'll have to end up getting this new BD. That being said, I'm absolutely hanging onto my MGM DVD.

Re: The Terminator: Remastered - 2/19/2013

So do you suppose that the Terminator Anthology coming out wide-release in March will just be the same as the Best Buy release or do you think they'll include the remastered Terminator disc that wasn't available at the time Best Buy had the set?

You misunderstood me. It's not that events of T:TSCC negate the events of T3 and TS. As far as the writers of T:TSCC are concerned, T3 and TS are not canon.

I don't believe they ever claimed that. The show was described as an alternate timeline.

That's how I recall it being explained. T:TSCC acts as if T3 and TS don't exist and TS acts as a followup to the events of T3 but ignores T:TSCC completely. It's not an alternate timeline but rather a separate continuity. Which is fine since T3 completely bungled when the events of T2 took place.

Just picked up the Anthology set. Will be forking out more money for the re-master version of this movie.

My copy of this shipped from Amazon today. Pretty excited to get it. I'm still keeping my old DVD with the original color timing but it will be nice to have this on Blu-ray.

Bah- no original sound mix, no sale. Would have been interesting to hear this dubbed in Thai though.

I agree. No sale MGM. It's not that hard to include the original soundtrack. I can't believe studios are that lazy today when it comes to this.

Re: The Terminator: Remastered - 2/19/2013

I just watched the original yesterday from my Anthology set and have to say that I might spring for the upgrade depending on the reviews. It is a pretty dirty, lackluster transfer on the current BD.

Re: The Terminator: Remastered - 2/19/2013

I can't bring myself to get this transfer. T1 just keeps getting shit on when it comes to a good release. Sure it's clarity and sharpness is great but goddamn it. They fucked w/ the color and the sound. Fuck that. Add in that it's got shit features. No thanks.

Re: The Terminator: Remastered - 2/19/2013

I'll be getting the new bluray release. Just for the best reason that I don't have any of the previous releases on DVD or blu. So i'm springing for it on Tuesday. Hopefully my local Best Buy store will have it. If not, it may take a while for me to get it which could be a blessing in disguise because I could hear some more reviews of this before I buy it.
