Not surprising, really. At least they didn't pull a Highlander where the UK release was packed and the US release was a step above barebones.

Fox has quietly sent out versions of the old disc with new artwork. They must be trying to blow out the old discs before this new one arrives.

I'm planning on skipping. Don't watch the one I have enough to care to double dip on this one unless I run across it for $5 or something.

Apparently, on the UK release, "Creating The Terminator" was edited down to 12 minutes from its original 1 hour length. WTF?

I know Cameron is busy working on the Avatar movies, but I really wish he would have done a commentary track on part 1. After all, this movie was his baby and helped launch one of the most successful science fiction franchises of all time.
The stupid MGM special edition DVD and the previous BD, which I own, have the same extras as this release with only Cameron's commentary on the deleted scenes.

Nice to see this is coming out. I've got the other three on Blu-ray but held off on buying the original as I've heard it needed a remaster. I'll pick this one up for sure.

Re: The Terminator: Remastered - 2/19/2013
the 5.1 remix on the special edition dvd is soooo bad and gimmicky that i can't listen to it, i always go to the mono track. Shame Fox is too lazy to port that track over (even it if isn't a lossless version of it

Back when Sony controlled the MGM Catalog a new Terminator release was being prepped. The project was cancelled, but some work had already been done. A commentary track that was edited from multiple sessions with different actors was planned. Lance Hendrickson talked about recording a track. I have no idea why this isn't being put into this release.
