I agree. I will not be upgrading the film unless the original mono mix is included.

No mono soundtrack, no sale. The 5.1 mix always makes me cringe, it sounds so false to me.
I can't believe it's a lack of disc space, so it must be laziness, or the 'HD effect'. If it's on blu ray it has to be widescreen with surround audio.

I will swap this out with my old disc, but still keep the DigiBook.

So w/ the lack of the mono soundtrack this is like what we had w/ that SE of Scarface on DVD right? New inserted sounds to make shit bigger? Which in the action of it, it ruins the whole damn thing?

Terminator doesn't have the teal wash on DVD and INCLUDES the mono track.
Aliens has the ugly green teal wash on the blu-ray. It looks sharp, but the color of the film is now ugly as hell.

I thought it was the best the film has ever and probably will ever look. I was shocked at how good it was.

I just heard in this new remaster, all the guns have been turned into walkie talkies due to the recent school and mall shootings.

The colors on the new Blu-ray have been heavily doused in teal, much like the Blu-ray for Aliens. The old disc has the original colors, but a softer picture.

He's talking about the new remastered Blu-ray that was released in the UK a couple months ago, and will be released in the U.S. on February 19th.

It's not blue. It's teal, which is a mixture of blue and green, and is much gaudier. Cameron's movies used to have a signature "steely blue" color scheme. He replaced all the blue (and most of the other colors as well) with teal.

...And what's so hard about releasing it with original color timing??? Should be *easier* to do that rather than infuse it with teal artificiality.

Re: The Terminator: Remastered - 2/19/2013
So I want The Terminator on Blu-ray and I'm trying to decide if I should wait and get this remastered edition or get the old disc (which is on sale at Best Buy right now for $6.99).
The main thing that pisses me off is the lack of the mono track (whatever, I can't change it. I'll stick with my old DVD for that) but I've heard concerns over the "remastered" image. Are they going to tweak with it or leave it as it is but with a better transfer. Because if they're tweaking with the color and stuff I'll grab the older Blu-ray.
What do you think?
