Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

I got around to watching The Lego Movie 2 in 3D the other night. Not much 3D action in that one. Limited depth, no pop-outs. Probably would have been better in 2D HDR. I recall the first Lego Movie being pretty conservative with 3D as well, but this one seemed even more so.

Had the same problem. There's three that I need to complete my Marvel 3D collection, and I added a double (for resale here) of one that I bought last year, but the discount only applied for two of the four. I'm hoping they fix that. In the past, this deal always worked on multiples of two. Placing two separate orders of two discs each here actually costs more due to the shipping. Not much, but it's the principle of the thing. I'm holding off due to that and the hope that they might also add other Disney titles to the mix.

There also doesn't seem to be any way to view the complete list of sale titles. Clicking the "promotion message" just shows ordering rules.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Tried chatting with Amazon UK yesterday to see if the '2/£18 3D' deal might be amended to include multiples of two. The rep said yes, but I doubted he'd actually do anything and, not surprisingly, nothing changed. However, the price on CAPTAIN MARVEL 3D just dropped approx. £1.50 (to £10.51, or £8.76 after VAT), which sorta-kinda balances the whopping £2.00 discount I felt they were denying me, so I made an order for four titles. Now to see if the offer actually changes after the fact.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

is digital 3D, like on Vudu same quality, as the physical disc? i thought i had physical for Aquaman, but only have the Vudu 3D (i think it was only $19.99 for that plus 2D and all extras, so figured why would i need physical). Just wondering if the physical would be a better 3D experience though. thanks.

The physical of any disc is pretty much better than the digital version, even the 3D. But I’ve never compared before. The 3D ship has sailed for me.

Figured. I’ve compared 2D digital vs. physical and physical does win out...

Compression artifacts shown up on Vudu 3D more often than 2D, I've also had it stop to buffer frequently. But I've caved and gotten a few titles like Hotel Transylvania 3 that aren't available anywhere on disc.

So, when in doubt, physical always better than digital, whether 3D or 2D, right? Thanks Alan.

Holy god does Aquaman look gorgeous in 3D. The underwater scenes and those colors. Man this is demo worthy stuff imo. Colors pop better than Avatar. It’s grand.

Anyone have Hansel & Gretel 3D? Is it just a crappy movie with good 3D?

I thought it was a very good movie with very good 3D. Excellent production design, decent special effects, knowing performances. Hardly a classic, but pretty much what I expected from the creator of the DEAD SNOW movies. The 'announced' sequel still has an IMDb page, but I'm not holding my breath.

Also, Amazon UK has another 2/£18 deal on Disney 3D, including new-ish releases DUMBO, LION KING, TOY STORY 4 and ALADDIN, plus most of the previous titles (FROZEN, NEMO, etc.). Worth noting that they're using the same trick they did on the recent Marvel 3D sale, where the discount only applies to 2 titles at a time, not 4, 6, etc., but placing two orders of 2 titles is actually about £1 more expensive than just getting 4 in one order, so I grabbed the four new ones mentioned to be all caught up.

Sounds good to me. Didn’t know he was guy who did Dead Snow. I really liked that one. Didn’t they do part 2 with like American kids or something? He did that too. That blew. I think I saw H&G, don’t remember much but the 3D got great reviews even though movie didn’t, at all. Still think it’ll be fun...

This does have some great 3D. Even the opening logos made use, especially MGM, and animated panel sequence was great. No color saturation either. Some can be darker, but good colors. Better then I remembered. Which is a good thing. It’s cheesy, and knows it is. Is Jeremy Renner being type cast as an archer/marksmen?

I hate to say this but I could not stay awake through Sangaree. Generally don't like those kind of movies, its being in 3D was the only reason I watched it at all.
