Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

i'm only putting here bc i think it might get more views than in home theater talk. i will delete after fixed as to not derail, but frustrated...

can someone please help get my 3D working again?

i've tried everything you can think of, except the right one to get to work, obviously.

so, i had to unplug bluray player because it got frozen on Amazon Prime. fine. i unplugged, replugged after few minutes. everything was fine. i go and try the 3D and while the glasses pair and say "registered" successfully, it never shows 3D through the glasses.

i checked all the setting on Sony bluray player and Sony TV and nothing changed. i did the registering through bluetooth device list and it registered. i go into a 3D movie and they register, but no 3D.

i've tried new batteries, a different 3D disc, everything i can think of and found on the internet, but nothing. i know this happened another time when i had to unplug player and then it wouldn't play 3D, but fixed it somehow. also, made sure all the correct 3D settings on player and tv were set and they were.

anyone, please, this is frustrating. thanks in advance.

I have a Sony 3D blu-ray player and PS3 hooked up to an Onkyo receiver, which is hooked up to a Panasonic projector. I never have issues when I watch a 3D disc in the PS3, but the standalone player always fails to recognize my projector as 3D capable when I turn on the devices in the wrong order. For me, the order has to be projector on, then receiver, then player. Maybe your situation is similar?

Did you try unplugging and replugging your TV then? Not just turning it off, because that usually doesn’t restart the software inside smart TV’s.

see i did that but didn't get the Android logo to come on like it usually does when tv resets. i looked more into internet and found that when i hold the tv power button to the LED light it powers off and restarts/resets. the Android logo did come back, but still 3D not working. Then saw on internet to turn bluetooth off first on tv, then restart/reset (hold power off tv), then bluetooth back on. sure enough that did it and the 3D seems to be working again. thanks guys!

Spider-Man: Far From Home looks great in 3D. Best MCU in 3D I’ve come across in a long time. Great depth, no color saturation and nice pop outs, especially Mysterio’s beams and stuff. Very pleasantly surprised.

My Oppo player has a setting to force 3D output so I keep that on. HDMI is a PITA.

I got the German Gemini Man 3D Blu from Germany. I know movie didn’t get the high marks, but the 3D and sound sure did. Blu-ray.com said best of 2019. And it’s native, not conversion, which most all are. Which ones are native 3D anyway?
And Lee did things with filming never done before.

Anyway, kinda looking forward to it...

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Thanks as always Jay. I guess that list isn’t definitive however as foreign releases (which probably make up nearly half my collection) are not included.

Some of those real definitely didn’t impress me, a lot in fact and would never have known native. Thought X-Men: Apocalypse sucked in 3D and as a movie. Wonder if one (the latter) influenced my decision? Guess we’ll never know.

Love that I have like 6 of the real 50’s 3D blus. I know Dial M for Murder was sublime in the format. In the format and certainly as a movie. Have to see House of Wax. Even some fake impressed me highly, especially Ghostbusters (2016).

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

There's also these two Wikipedia lists, which include many foreign films:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_3D_films_pre-2005
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...(2005_onwards)

They use the term "Filmed in 2D" under the "camera system" to indicate post conversions, i.e. not natively shot in 3D. Sometimes the conversion is mentioned in the notes, but not always.

There's also a Wikipedia list of Blu-ray 3D releases, which if you're a completionist might drive you mad with some of the obscure and hard to find titles they list:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ay_3D_releases

I dunno man, it sounds broken.

You should try contacting Sony's customer support. It's a Sony TV and Sony Blu-ray player, so they should have some knowledge/experience with both. What brand glasses are they?

I don't know what "hard reset" means. Are you unplugging it?

What happens, exactly when you try and play 3D Blu-rays? Are you seeing the blurred double-image without glasses? What do you see when you put the glasses on?

What are the models of your TV, Blu-ray player, and glasses?

If you're going to keep bugging us, you could at least provide more info.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

when i said hard reset, i mean powering down tv using hold power button, it resets with the Android logo coming back on and resets tv. everything is blurred when disc inside, like normal, the 3D signal banner is detected always shows. i register the glasses every time, but when i put glasses on, still blurry. usually when "register" comes on the glasses will show the 3D.

player: Sony BDP-S6700
tv: Sony KDL50W800C
glasses: Sony TDG-BT500A

and sorry i'm bugging you. didn't mean for that. just wanted some help bc it's frustrating. i'm sure you know how that feels. so i apologize if i came across as nagging...

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

You always come off as nagging whenever you make multiple posts right after another about the same question. What varies is my patience for it on a given day.

The issue could be the glasses. They might not be pairing correctly, and the "hard reset," which I don't think is actually hurting the TV but likely takes longer to boot, temporarily fixes it

How many pairs of glasses have you tried? Is it affecting each pair, or only some? Are there any other glasses you could try with the TV?
