You must have loved Patton and Scary Movie...

He looks like an Action Figure. Way to waxy.

Left side looks like computer animation. Seriously, could be a PS3 game. Look at the red shirt. Predator is one of the very few movies I would upgrade to watch in HD, but I won't buy this.

Sideshow Arnold disapproves of the way the DNR makes him look like a plastic "girly man".

Do we know for a fact that is a real image from the new transfer? I'm hoping it isn't really that bad.

I believe they're all from the new overseas release(s), which are most likely what we're getting here. There's a fair amount of screenshot comparisons floating around, and that one's by far the worst. Personally, I kinda like the look of the other screenshots.... we'll just have to wait for reviews on the whole thing.

Basically, it looks like Fox took a perfectly good new transfer of a movie that is frequently soft and lacking in detail, and fucked it up by rubbing DNR all over it. I admit, having seen the other caps on the Blu-Ray.com forums, it's not as bad as it looks from the shot above, but the combination of McTiernan's film stock/lenses and DNR is not a pretty one.

They should make a Super Ultimate Hunter Edition that's just the original voices and sound effects placed over a cartoon.

Think I might do the same, but I'll wait for reviews of the US edition before I decide.

Simple. People have been complaining about how horrid the previous transfer was due to all the grain, even though that was the nature of the film in the first place. If that screenshot is an accurate representation of the new transfer, then we can see that Fox decided to go to the other extreme as a result. We see just how bad that could be...

I think I'm going to actually watch the new BD on a player and see how it actually looks during normal playback. That's how I determine the quality of a BD, not by screenshots. Especially if it comes from AVS.

Predator grain: 1987-2010

Oh, grain in Predator, how we miss you, why did you have to be taken from us so young!!

Back in the day, after they made that Rambo animated series (with an animated Stallone), I always wondered what an animated Predator and Schwarzenegger would look like....well, from these new screen shots, now we know!

Comparison shots NOT from AVS. Some notable people will be eating their own words.
