Packaging isn't an issue for me. I see people complaining abou the new Xbox 360 cases that are better for the environment and such....who cares? If it holds my disc(s), and keeps it safe, great.
I did have an issue about some games (not sure if they ever did this with movies) having four discs and three are in the case while the fourth is in a plain sleeve. That's just lazy and stupid. But even then, it wouldn't keep me from buying it. You can always buy new cases.

Unless the picture quality is completely sub-par (but from what's I've seen it doesn't bother me) and I mean really, really, REALLY messed up then I don't care about the packaging or anything else. I'm still buying this on the 26th.

Similar to what I mentioned over in the Apocalypse Now thread (regarding the DVD-sized packaging for the 3-disc version).....if you don't like this digipack for BTTF, just buy a regular 3-disc Elite case and print out some custom cover art for it....

Too much of a hassle. Most of the time, you just see the side of the case while it's on a shelf. So even if you hated the cover art, you wouldn't see it much.

So no U.S. versions of the Collector's Tin Edition or the DeLorean Edition that are listed on amazon.co.uk going to be available anywhere in the U.S.?
Will UK Blu-ray Discs play in my U.S. Playstation 3 correctly? Are the 480i extras (I'm assuming not all the special features on the BTTF Trilogy are 1080p, correct?) encoded in PAL? Does the PS3 convert it to NTSC (or whatever HDTV standard it needs to be to play correctly)?
The DeLorean edition doesn't look like it has the collector's tin contents so I think I'll go with the collector's tin over the DeLorean edition. So how does buying something from amazon uk work? Is it a lot to ship and does it take a long time to get to my house? About how much total do you think it would be to get the collector's tin if I live in Arizona? Are there US based sites that make it easier to buy imported Blu-ray box sets like this or is the safest way amazon uk since I've never had a problem with the regular amazon.com?

I have a US PS3 and a UK Sony 570 BD player so when I get my collecters tin I will test them out on both.
Hopefully that will help a few folks.
Also have you seen the DeLorean set? The model looks awful!

2: The PS3 does not convert PAL to NTSC, but as you already seem to know, any content in HD will play just fine (again, assuming the discs aren't region locked).
3: Buying something from Amazon.co.uk is easy. Doesn't require anything more or less than it takes to buy something from Amazon.com; the process is identical.
4: Shipping from the UK is not a significantly large amount.
5: It's definitely better to buy straight from Amazon.co.uk; anyone I've ever seen who imports then resells in the US jacks the price up, there's no benefit to them otherwise.
I just pre-ordered the tin. The price dropped in checkout, too, so it's slightly cheaper than the posted price. In any case, what I was planning on doing was buying both the UK and the American sets, and just putting the American package into the tin, then reselling the UK set, since it looks like the standard retail version is just packed into the tin, along with the goodies.

Exactly, these 'eco cases' are just a huge joke and really lousy in quality and I wish they'd not bother with this crap. If anyone thinks they're truly 'saving the environment' by buying such cases, and studios really 'care', they're fooling themselves.

One reason I like the eco cases is because they weigh a lot less and put less stress on a shelf. It's the only positive thing I can think of in regards to the cases.

Since you're in London, have you heard anything about the regular BTTF set? I know you're getting the tin and will report back about whether all the SD special features will play in the US, but I'm wondering if you've heard anything about the packaging of the standard set?
I'd probably buy the regular set, without the goodies, from amazon.uk if it doesn't come in the same packaging as the US version. The ones with the pop out and slide digipaks.
If you've heard anything about the regular set, would you please report back about that too?

Will do Dolphinboy.
I have a HMV close to where I work. The tin is ordered through Play so no doubt I won't be in when they deliver it!
In regards to Eco-cases, I always like it when they pair them up with a cardboard slipcase!

From the review for those interested about the packaging:
**It should be noted that the trifold style Blu-ray case containing the discs is unlike any that I have seen and can make removal of the discs frustrating if you don’t know how. Each set of discs (the Blu-ray and digital copy for each), occupies its own section in the trifold arrangement. Unfold the set so that all three are visible and lay it on a flat surface (the Blu-ray Disc is on top of the digital copy). Looking at the bottom of the cutout where the disc is there are two plastics tabs that act as springs to keep the disc in place. Apply pressure by sliding the disc (top toward the tabs) and lifting it out. Replacing it is done in the reverse. The same goes for the digital copy underneath which will become obvious once the Blu-ray disc is removed. **

Any review of a BD that uses the word slide the disc makes my stomach sour. I really hope that a review of the regular, non tin, set gets posted soon. It has only 3 discs but it's still possible that it's got the House design with 2 discs on top of each other on the left, with the 3rd movie alone on the right. And then there's the question of the standard def special features.
With all the complaining, I can see why people are turned off by it, but I can't see why people criticize those of use who don't want to slide our discs to take them out and put them in. That's just a major problem to me. And if you're making your own art and using a different case, then you shouldn't be ripping on people who don't or can't do that.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
Ok I am hearing that the SD special features are not always PAL on UK Blu releases. Is that possible? Is that true? If so, what is the deal with BTTF and the Alien boxsets? Are the carried over SD features PAL or NTSC?

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)
It's not that they would be NTSC, it's just that they would be encoded in 480p, I think.

I still have it pre-ordered with Amazon.UK, but absolute confirmation would be nice.
