And that's exactly why I don't trust them for reviews.

I think that's the 3rd review I've seen and they've all been very positive. I'm not at all worried anymore about the transfer. Some people can pick anything apart, but for my eyes, it looked good and now that people have seen it and reviewed it, I'm looking forward to getting it even more.

Just not looking forward to putting the movies in separate sleeves.

Then you've seen the blu-ray and disagree with the review?

I have a difficult time believing anyone is a fan of these and if you say it's no big deal, I think you're just trying to rip people for having an genuine problem with genuinely poorly designed cases.

I don't believe I've ever seen someone make a case that they liked these newly designed digis over the ones where you had a hub in the middle and merely needed to pull the disc up carefully and push the disc back down carefully. I wouldn't have made a peep had it been the old design. These new ones are sh*tty and I hope people make a fuss, if for no other reason than to hopefully get them to go back to the old design when they do release anything else in digipaks.

Call me old fashioned but I buy Blu-Ray's to watch them, not to look at the packaging and bitch. If this was some ultimate edition and came in a bag and three paper sleeves I might get upset.

This is an enthusiast forum. I don't think anyone thinks packaging is anywhere near the most important issue - but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be commented on when one comes along that is less than ideal. If you don't want to comment on it you don't have to.

Am I just seeing it wrong or is it that clear that it's the push and slide style?
oh no this sucks its the same style digi pack we got with alliance's scream trilogy box set. i wouldnt have minded digi packaging if it had a individual hub for each disc. I had to swap them into a traditional 3 disc case because it was begining to feel like each time i took either scream 2 or 3 out that it was making the disc increasingly likely to break in the future.

Dont get me wrong it doesnt change the fact that iam getting the set and that the movies are what matter most, its just ashame they are using a packaging style that has had known and reported issues with causeing disc damage.

Did Universal send me a copy to personally review? No. Did they send it to someone else I know? Yes.

But since I am not reviewing it, I'm sure as hell not writing any comments on it. I'll let the "Insiders" go crazy over this crap.

I don't get why, since you've seen it first-hand, you won't make comments. What does not reviewing it have to do with it? I'm not trying to be difficult, just curious since many of us would love to hear first-hand comments.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)

One of the things I like about Blu-ray is that a lot of the packages are more uniform. Unless it's a big set (like Battlestar Galactica) I'm not interested in getting oddly shaped packages. I think I'll pass on this, as much as I want it, for the time being in hopes that eventually they'll run out of digipaks and put it in regular keep cases. The individual seasons of Lost fit that many discs in one Blu-ray case, why couldn't they do the same for Back To The Future?

Isn't the whole purpose of this website is to trash every disc before during and after the release? Every disc ever released has been disparaged over; the artwork, the price, the better price a few weeks later, the quality of the transfer, the packaging, and the insert.

Don't get me started on the extras. No matter what was included, one of the 9 trailers wasn't in HD and now I have to keep my original set because the 2 minute interview with the caterer discussing the food the star gets isn't included so now I got screwed the cheap bastards.

Yeah guys you're all hilarious and oh so witty with the sarcastic remarks ... Seriously, when you buy a Blu-ray you don't factor in how its packaged at all? I mean this is a $50 item excuse me and others for expecting something decent, and from the picture that was shown it just seems like they could have done better. I would have even been more satisfied with just a Lord of the Rings style box with 2 cases that each hold 3 discs.

Uh yeah because you aren't keeping the box..and yeah I actually do give a shit that its boxed correctly because if its just thrown in there it could easily be damaged. Packaging serves a purpose to protect the item it contains as well as to look appealing to the consumer..

Maybe the UK release will have slightly different packaging.

Some people do, some people don't. I don't really care how they are packaged, and it's just fine that you do. Most of my discs don't live in their original cases.

I get just as annoyed as most folks when things are packaged poorly, but ultimately it doesn't affect my decision about whether to purchase something.

I think it's pretty funny that people are getting all up in arms about other people lamenting about packaging decisions though. If we couldn't complain about trivial bullshit on the internet, then this place would be a ghost town. You'd think most people would be used to it by now.

The only time I care about the packaging is if it's going to damage the discs or if it's going to drive up the price. I recall the "blood pack" version of Ichi The Killer made it difficult to remove the disc without damaging it, so I didn't get that one. The first issue of the complete Shield box set also had a reputation for scratching discs, skipped that. Then it's something like The Wizard of Oz Blu-ray, which was in a huge box with tons of physical extras I didn't need, so I went to Target and got the 3-disc version in a regular digipak. Other than that, I don't care too much. I've never even replaced the cardboard cases on my first issue Criterion Blu-rays although Criterion is offering replacement cases.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)

Packaging isn't an issue for me. I see people complaining abou the new Xbox 360 cases that are better for the environment and such....who cares? If it holds my disc(s), and keeps it safe, great.

I did have an issue about some games (not sure if they ever did this with movies) having four discs and three are in the case while the fourth is in a plain sleeve. That's just lazy and stupid. But even then, it wouldn't keep me from buying it. You can always buy new cases.
