Wow. I don't know what to think. I mean, ultimately, I just want the films and bonus features on Blu-ray... but the packaging and extras for the UK Tin Edition seem pretty sweet. Thanks for sharing the video.

The tin looks terrible but all the extras are pretty cool.

This is a close-up pic of how the discs are held.

Yeah, the case blows. I'll just stick them in a UK 3 Disc Amray case as it should be about the same size.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)

I decided to get the set. After seeing how those are held, I'm expecting at least 1 disc to either be covered in finger prints or be scratched.

And yes, it is a myth that BDs don't scratch. They certainly do. I've encountered several in the past and it usually happens with box sets. Hopefully I'm okay this time.

What I don't understand is why the need to change how the discs are housed. 99% of the time, a simple button/hub is used and that seems to work fine. Why not just stick with what works?

That UK tin is really tempting - especially since up here in Canada the regular set is going to cost about $60 after tax - which is nearly the same as the UK set (unless customs has their way with it). Not sure if I can wait the extra few weeks but might have to go that route.

Seriously debating about ordering the UK set...it'll be my first import. Anyone have an idea how long it usually takes to ship to the US (FL to be exact...)

Thanks!

Thanks!
Usually takes a week (sometimes a couple days more) for Amazon UK packages to reach me in Florida.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)

I had been going to say, everyone was citing "The Office" Season 6, and I went and looked at mine and it just uses the overlapping hub, where the disc hub in the center overlaps with the disc in the lower tray. Easy to remove the discs. I thought people were really making a big deal out of nothing. Now that I can see that photo, I can say my "Office" set is nothing like that. That looks a little more complex.

Re: "Back To The Future" on Blu! (10-26-2010)

I have just received my tin and the lenticular picture is probably one of the best things I ever got from a limited edition. It's the best thing in the tin for sure!
The old 1855 picture does indeed look like a screen grab. Very pixallated The almanac is kinda lame because it had to fit the tin. The USA Today front pages have the different headlines on either side.

I am glad I went for this set as it's a nice edition next to my Japanese LE.

Most of the time when I order from Amazon UK, it ships nearly right away (last time was the day after I ordered) and arrives in 4-5 business days. I live in Iowa.

The pictures and all reports were that it was like the Office and House. And, boy, it sure looked like the same thing in the photos.

Too bad this didn't get reported sooner, because I would have purchased the US set if I knew it had hubs. I still like the UK set more, but the original BTTF is just a personal favorite/classic of mine and I'm probably looking forward to seeing that more than anything else in either this set or the Aliens set.

Instead I'll be waiting about 10 days. At least I have a lot of blus that I still need to catch up on watching.

My copy of "The Office" is nothing like the picture Mr. Cinema posted. It's a standard digipak, the only minor difference is that the center hub is high enough that the hub partially overlaps the edge of the disc in whichever tray is set lower in the plastic. There are no side "spring" tabs, or clips holding the disc in on the left and right. The photo above doesn't even seem to have a center hub for the upper disc.

EDIT: given that there is no hub, why do you have to push the disc down towards the clips? Based on the photo, you could push it up, and it would align with the digital copy disc and should be removable...

You need to post pictures of your "The Office" BD, because that style packaging is exactly how everybody else's BD of "The Office" Season 6 (NOT Season 5) looks.

If any American residents who ordered the UK set receive it today, they should post about it.

I would like to know how it was packaged in the box. I am not particularly a fan of the tin, but I would hate it to be dented even the slightest. The only extra that I really want is the lenticular photo and the design of the car seems nice but I don't know if those are worth the extra money (The other extras look too cheap - plate, almanac, newpaper)

I am still on the fence since I still have my DVDs and can wait for price drop on the US edition, but I am a sucker for extras. So it all come downs to how it's packaged and if it plays ALL the contents.
