**BREAKING: ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK Release News**
We have some “A-number one” updates to report today regarding our upcoming (and highly-anticipated) Collector’s Edition of John Carpenter’s legendary film ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK:
- Here’s an exclusive first look at the official newly-commissioned artwork which comes courtesy to us from artist Paul Shipper (Halloween: The Complete Collection). Snake is centrally focused of course, but we felt that it was important to showcase the incredible ensemble cast who are all vitally important to the film too. Purists can rejoice: The iconic original poster art with the beheaded Statue of Liberty will be on the reverse wrap and we wouldn’t dream of not including it!
- Extras (new & existing) are still in progress and will be announced in full details sometime in Feb. This is a 2-disc blu-ray set and will exceed the previous DVD special edition.
- Last and not least (and which will be good news to fans hoping this would happen): We have created a brand new 2K High Definition scan of the inter-positive, struck from the original negative.
- This is a Region A release. Street date is 4/21. You can pre-order the release directly from us @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/…/escap...-york-collect…. Amazon and other fine online retailer pre-order links should be going up soon in the upcoming months. Note: If you do order from us on our site, you’ll receive it two weeks earlier than the national street date and receive an 18” x 24” poster of the new art. Please keep in mind that the poster is only made in limited quantities.

It's Shout so don't count on it.

Howling II's not just any bad movie, it's one of those movies that's so bizarre it demands special features explaining how this movie came to be. Like Caligula, it demands analysis! Hats off to SF if they include a director's commentary or extensive making-of documentary on this.

It'd be cool if Howling 2 had a commentary with the director and Reb Brown. I'm sure it'd be possible, Reb isn't doing much lately.

One thing I've always wondered but never seen confirmed, is if Howling 2 started out as a vampire movie script and was tweaked to be a Howling sequel.

I mean...
-Christopher Lee talks about killing werewolves with a stake through the heart
-Garlic & holy water effects them
-The villain stays eternally young by sucking the 'essence' out of people
-Lee explains that the werewolves aren't just people who turn into wolves, but "the undead"
-They have to travel to the werewolf home base of...Transylvania.

A movie as bad as Howling 2 needs a commentary mocking it from the fans.

The EFNY release sounds like a good one- but I'm one of the few people perfectly satisfied with the current MGM disc. Will probably put off an up(side)grade until there is a compelling discount to be had.

Breathless, however, will be a much quicker purchase. It's not a patch on the original, but I've always had a soft spot the remake- and it's never been available before in it's OAR.
Now if Cohen can get out the wonderfully trashy Year Of The Jellyfish, the Valerie Kaprisky wing of my collection will be complete.

I never realized until recently that there are something like 8 or 9 Howling movies. I assume all the sequels are pretty terrible?

**DOG SOLDIERS UPDATE**

We regret to inform you that we are moving the release date for DOG SOLDIERS again…but hopefully for good reason. The new official street date is now 6/23/15.

The film’s Director, Neil Marshall, has recently found potentially better film elements for us to work with so that we can create a new HD transfer. In order for us to do this, we need more time and which is why a delay was prompted.

We really debated postponing this underrated gem again but we know that many of you have requested a new transfer (better than the previous Blu-ray release) and we want to exhaust every avenue to bring one to you. Once we look at the elements, we’ll keep you posted on the status of it. We hope you understand our position on this and we appreciate your patience.

If Marshall is supervising the transfer, provided he does go on a color-tweaking rampage, that's excellent news, and a very viable reason for bumping the release date back to improve the product. Hats off to Shout.

No one has seemingly mentioned that a Breakin/Breakin 2 double-feature comes out in a few months from Shout Factory. I might get it for nostalgia's sake.

Howling 2 is kinda fascinating. Howling 3 even more so, but is less entertaining than 2. The rest are hot garbage.

I seem to have missed that announcement. I'm definitely in for that one....I loved those movies when I was a kid.

Escape From New York gets a better Blu ray treatment than Goodfellas or Amadeus. Shout Factory (as well as Criterion) put the major studios to shame.

But that's why they're in business -- because the studios give the shaft to catalog titles.

Still surprised Amadeus didn't get a Diamond Luxe treatment, although again the picture can't possibly be improved. It would've had to be a 3 disc set to include the theatrical cut.

GoodFellas we still don't know what's going on, but word is that it's a remaster.

Pre-order is up at Amazon for this one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S0DW3XG/

In an ideal world, Shout would've done a 4-film set doubling these up with Cannon's other 80's dance classics SALSA and LAMBADA (seriously). All four practically use the same template. And they could toss in THE APPLE for good measure and make it a 5-pack.

**MAD MAX (Collector’s Edition) Update! **

We’re really excited about our upcoming blu-ray release of the original MAD MAX film and now can finally give you some details on it ever since we announced the title way back in July. We appreciate your patience and hope the wait will have been worth it!

- The incredible newly-commissioned artwork you see here (from artist Paul Shipper) is final and approved. (Purists take note: The original theatrical poster image will be on the reverse.)

- Full list of extras are still forthcoming but we can confirm today that we have an all-new exclusive interview with star Mel Gibson as one of them!

- U.S. & Canada Street date is 5/5 and the link to pre-order is now available on our site @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/ac...ctor-s-edition. If you choose to order directly from us, the item will be shipped two weeks early PLUS you’ll get a FREE limited edition 18” x 24” poster of the new cover art (while supplies last).

Full specs and extras will be announced next month. Stay tuned…

Could be an improvement over the MGM Mad Max BD. But what we really need is better disc for The Road Warrior and Thunderdome.

Road Warrior was just rereleased last year, lossless audio and a new encoding which does look better than the original release

But still missing the kind of deluxe package a movie like this one deserves. Hopefully with the new movie coming out we will see something more worthy for the two Mad Max sequels.

It's Warner. Don't count on it.

I'm guessing Dog Soldiers was shot on the cheap and or not handled very well, hence why each dvd release (& the first blu ray) look, well like shit
