I ordered Witchboard and Pumpkinhead from Scream Factory. I received my order within three days. I didn't receive a confirmation or shipping notice though. Pumpkinhead came with a slip.

I was pleased to get a slipcover for Terror Train today, from Amazon. I'm not sure Scream Factory understands their market that well when getting a slipcover from them is like playing roulette. The Hollywood studios can get away with it because one lost sale doesn't matter.

I am pretty confident the vocal minority of Blu-ray.com is not the #1 purchaser of Shout Factory discs.

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT**

Our month-long "Shocktober" celebration continues with another film to reveal. We veer more into sci-fi territory this time: 1989’s ROBOT JOX (helmed by legendary From Beyond and Dolls Director Stuart Gordon) will make its debut on the Blu-ray format in Summer 2015! No other details to report at this time.

FUCK.
YES.

People haven't even mentioned the Nightbreed ordering fiasco at Shout's site. They shipped out the limited edition set to people that ordered the theatrical set and are now calling everyone up, to get them back.

I purposely avoid ordering directly from Shout for their products.

Wow. Haven't heard about that. That's hilariously stupid. Is that on bd.com?

I got suckered by the free magnets and now they probably won't have any in stock by the time I get my order.

The BD kids probably think they are owed that version and how dare them.

But if they get double charged THERE WILL BE BLOOD.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Can anyone vouch that any of these titles are either fantastic or terrible. I've been doing some blind buying from Scream factory lately, most have turned out to be great blind buys. But not all of them. The films im thinking of getting but am on the fence about:

Death Valley
The Nest
TerrorVision / The Video Dead
The Town The Dreaded Sundown
Leviathan
Legend of Hell House
The Final Terror

Also: Day of The Dead but more for PQ and extras as I already love the movie.

Any input would be much appreciated. Gracias.

The Legend of Hell House is probably my favorite of that lot, though cheesy horror fans might prefer the twofer with TerrorVision/The Video Dead. The Town That Dreaded Sundown is a real off-beat film for its era.

I concur on The Legend of Hell House and Leviathan. The Town That Dreaded Sundown is an interesting film too, but I think the moments of goofy humor with the bumbling deputy really hurt it. It's too out of place in an otherwise taut thriller. That shit really should have ended up on the cutting room floor.

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT**
Our "Shocktober" celebration continues with another film to reveal, and this is a rare one: The 1988 prison/slasher film DESTROYER will make its debut on the Blu-ray format in Summer 2015 and will be paired in a double feature with the previously-announced SCARECROWS—another quasi-slasher flick from 1988.
Similar to The Horror Show and Shocker in its execution (pun not intended) DESTROYER sports a pretty wild cast starring former NFL player Lyle Alzado, Deborah Foreman (April Fool’s Day, Waxwork), Clayton Rohner (also from April Fool’s Day, The Relic) and even “Norman Bates” himself, Anthony Perkins!
No other details to report at this time. We still have a few more surprise reveals between now and Halloween so keep checking back here on the page to be the first to see them.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Leviathan and Lake Placid are part of the weekly six titles that are reduced for one week only during their 31 days of Halloween sale. There are some other titles that folks may pounce on (such as Ginger Snaps, and Night Of The Comet).

Amazon has not yet price matched Leviathan and LP, so both titles are a great buy direct from Shout (especially Lake Placid, which is still an expensively priced title). I think this weeks batch of sales titles is especially strong.

Edited to add -

I pulled the trigger on Leviathan and Lake Placid. Lev is only $13.99, and LP is only $16.99 (and the order page says I will also receive a collectible poster)... plus I will end up with another magnet set.

Glad they finally added a title to the sales list I didn't own - Phantom of the Paradise. Ordered one up (along with those sweet magnets) and got a Scream Factory T-shirt, too.

I just got my copy of UHF in the mail, and I have good and bad news. It came in an envelope the poster was folded, I wish it would have been rolled in to a tube and shipped. All special features appear to be on it, and the picture quality looks great. The comic con panel is included with chapter stops, and is over 50 minutes long. The Audio is only 2 channel stereo, I dont have a receiver capable of lossless audio, but checked my ps3 and said 2 channel PCM. Overall first impressions are good, but I know the audio will disappoint some of you.

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Sorry to break this to you guys but we will not be announcing more titles this week as originally planned.
We had a couple more highly-requested films lined up for a reveal on Halloween but, unfortunately, the deal for them is not signed yet and we need to also look at the film masters and some other particular nuances on the releases before we can make an official announce. As soon as they're cemented better, we'll let you guys know.
Although we were thrilled to announce 21 titles already this month (listed below), we're admittedly disappointed that we can't share with you this week some of the others we had up our sleeves all the same. And, as always, we are still working on acquiring much more for the next year so stay tuned!
COMING SOON IN 2015 ON BLU-RAY:
- Scarecrows / Destroyer double feature
- Love at First Bite / Once Bitten double feature
- Vampire’s Kiss / High Spirits double feature
- Blacula / Scream Blacula Scream double feature
- From a Whisper to a Scream
- Ghoulies / Ghoulies II double feature
- Class of 1984 (Collector's Edition)
- Carrie 2002 / The Rage: Carrie II double feature
- Food of the Gods / Frogs double feature
- Empire of the Ants / Jaws of Satan double feature
- Tentacles / Reptilicus double feature
- Robot Jox

Tempted to pick up Ginger Snaps and Lake Placid from the Scream Factory sale this week. Night of the Comet sounds interesting too but I've never seen it.

It's a piece of 1980's nostalgia in a post-apocalyptic L.A.:

The review is for Arrow Video's UK Blu-ray, though it is virtually identical to Scream's version in every way.

I picked up Night of the Comet as a blind buy a couple of months back and enjoyed it. I'd recommend picking it up, but I don't know how many times you'd watch the BD.

I got my copy of UHF in the mail today. Can't wait to pop it in.

As long as it's lossless, I can deal. It was mixed in Ultra Stereo, I believe, so any 5.1 track would've been faux anyway.

So...I had to email Shout today, ordered last Monday and curious when it would ship, also told them I ordered Lake Placid before the exclusive poster sold out and to cancel LP order if my order would ship without the poster.

I received a quick reply that they would be shipping my order out today/tomorrow, and the warehouse was out of the poster so they had a few in their office they would ship separately, so between this and the Nightbreed goof, I suspect their customer service agents are a bit more stressed out than usual.

11/06/14 - I received the poster today, and the movies should be delivered tomorrow!
11/07/14 - Final add-on to this post...received the blus today, and another set of magnets. LP has a slipcase. Shout did right by me, and I will be happy to order direct from them in the future. I emailed them that all the packages were received, and even suggested that they put Alligator on their radar screen (even though it has probably been on their internal wish list for quite some time).
