I've never seen Lifeforce, is it anything worth a blind buy?

No, it's pretty awful.

Honestly sci-fi/horror crossovers are a mixed bag for me. It seems like I dislike more of them than I like.

Take a look at this trailer and you be the judge.

It's from Golan and Globus at Cannon Films & directed by Tobe Hooper. If you know anything about their history, they are known for really low budget movies. I barely remember watching this on VHS years ago. If you like really bad 80's sci-fi horror, then this is for you.

Lifeforce is one of the better genre flicks from the 1980s. It's definitely worth watching.

I like it for its campy quality and that it's an R rated science fiction. I have an appreciation for what Cannon did back then despite a lot of the scripts not being that good.

I like bad 80s horror but like I said I'm not always a fan of sci-fi/horror type films. I'll probably pass on getting it.

I wouldn't worry too much, then. It's not like it's going completely OOP -- just the current edition. The film be the same cut and the transfer will be the same, I'd assume.

How did they get away with tits in the trailer?

I picked up a copy at a local record store earlier today. They tend to stock the Scream Factory releases as they come out for $20, and no one had picked this up yet. I love schlocky 80s movies, especially anything by Cannon. Should be great for October.

All of their releases for $20? That's a pretty good deal on some of their titles, not so good on a few others.

The titles with the $29.93 MSRPs, yes. I should have clarified. The others are priced accordingly. I tend to have ever-revolving store credit so it works for me.

I wonder if this OOP version of Lifefore will command more than Night Breed, now.

If anyone wants a sealed copy of the Collector's Edition of Lifeforce with a slipcover, PM me. I can pick up another one tomorrow and sell it to you at cost (plus shipping).

The British-ness of Lifeforce has almost reminded me of a Quatermass movie.

The version out now will drop in value rather than increase. There will only be one Amazon listing for the title and any new/used copies of current version will be listed under it by third parties. Since reissue is cheaper, third party sellers will lower prices accordingly.

Picked up a copy of Lifeforce w/slipcover at Fry's for $14.99. Also decided to grab Dark Angel and The Incredible Melting Man since they were only $5.99 each.

FYI

A few of the Scream Factory titles are on sale at Amazon for 16.99

Sleepaway Camp
The Slumber Party Massacre
The Fog
Night of the Demons
Prince of Darkness
The Howling
Psycho II
Psycho III
From Beyond
Day of the Dead
They Live

And of course I bought Night of the Demons and Sleepaway Camp for 20 something each recently.

Of course I bought most of the one's I'd want at higher prices when they originally came out. Oh well, Scream Factory I actually don't mind supporting since they put out some cool releases.

Might pick up The Howling or Night of the Demons

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Has Shout Factory always been bad about listing extra features on their cases or is that something new? I've noticed recently that both the Bad Dreams/Visiting Hours blu-ray and Leviathan have omitted interview segments from the extras listing on the case. Leviathan doesn't mention talking to Ernie Hudson at all, for example, when there's a great new interview with him right there on the disc.

I think most of their back covers just say "...and more!" under the features listing.

I've heard the transfer is pretty bad on it, almost SD in quality.
