I guess Millner got the memo that his art needed to tone it down a bit. Nice NotC cover.

I love Night of the Comet, but I'm not that hot on the cover. I always really liked the original one sheet (which I assume will be reversible or behind a slip cover), great movie though. One of my all time favorites and I can't wait to see it on Blu and with extras.

Holy shit. It's finally happening. I don't care about any other release from now until then.

I am all over the Cabal cut of Nightbreed. Clive Barker has said there will be a screening of it in LA for us SoCal horror buffs.

Cat People and Darkman! I predicted Darkman months ago basically as soon as Crimewave was announced. I also predicted Army of Darkness so...

Saturn 3 is the title I'm excited about.

The full announcement:

***MORE TITLES HEADING YOUR WAY!!!***
Here’s the list of upcoming films we literally just announced at Comic-Con tonight:

JOHN CARPENTER’S ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (Collector’s Edition) – The original classic siege thriller is intensified further with all-new ‘Scream’-produced extras. (Nov 2012)

EVE OF DESTRUCTION – The 1991 Gregory Hines android-gone-amok sci-fi thriller hits Blu and anamorphic widescreen for the first time.

SATURN 3 – This post-Alien 1980 Kirk Douglas and Farrah Fawcett vs. Evil Robot flick gets a considerable upgrade to Blu-ray for the first time. New extras planned. (Dec 2012)

DARKMAN (Collector’s Edition) – The 1990 Sam Raimi cult classic gets the full on ‘Scream’ treatment with all new extras. (Dec 2012)

SCREAM FACTORY “TV TERRORS” –Two made-for-TV movies - 1978’s THE INITIATION OF SARAH and ARE YOU IN THE HOUSE ALONE? – will be packaged together on DVD for the first time at a good price. Fans have been asking us if we could exploit more of this made-for TV content so consider this an “experiment”. If this sells well, we would love to look into bringing you a “Volume 2”. (Dec 2012)

CAT PEOPLE (Collector’s Edition) – The 1982 feline flick (with Nastassja Kinski, sex, violence and a great David Bowie single) arrives on Blu for the first time with all-new extras (2014.)

We still have more tricks up our sleeves for 2014 and we are working feverishly on trying to close deals so that we can announce more favorites soon!

Interested in Nightbreed/Cabal and Cat People. Can't wait to see the covers they'll have for those.

Darkman, Precinct 13, and Eve of Destruction I don't really care about. Saturn 3 I vaguely remember from when I was a kid, and sort of being freaked out by that robot... Hector, wasn't it called? ...but it's one of those 80s sci-fi movies like Outland that I never really could warm up to.

I really wish they would do a special edition of Ghost Story, but I remember that one being shot down over at blu-ray.com.

My sentiments exactly. Still, a day one purchase (or re-purchase, after VHS and DVD) for me. I'm also looking forward to Nightbreed and Cat People.

Darkman could be a goldmine of extras. There's an unaired TV pilot, a bunch of deleted footage (see Bruce Campbell's book) and a probable Campbell commentary. Neeson and Raimi are almost sure to be no-shows and I'm not holding my breath for McDormand either. But I'm guessing they'll round up a few of the supporting actors, I bet they can land Ted Raimi and Danny Hicks. I wouldn't rule Larry Drake out either.

I have Cat People on HD DVD. It's one of Universal's old recycled DVD masters. I hope Shout! is able to remaster it, rather than just license the old transfer from Universal.

Darkman looked pretty good on HD DVD. I'm not a fan of the movie, though.

I know Shout wants to do more Universal titles, but I've also heard Uni is such a pain to work with that acquiring those licenses hasn't been easy.

I bought the Image Blu-Ray of this less than a month ago for $10 and change; just checked Amazon a second ago and it's now starting at $40 used. Did it go out of print? Because if it's just a temporary shortage, seems kind of a waste for Scream to go to the trouble of making a brand new edition--I thought the Image version had excellent audio/video and some great supplements.

Cat People.

We can all die happy now.

But really, is anyone going to buy it? The movie was pretty terrible.

...and you are correct! It's a terrific disc.

Scream Factory generally uses whatever existing masters are supplied to them, so I wouldn't expect the quality of the presentation to vary much. (Maybe it'll be more efficiently encoded...I don't remember that being a problem for the Image release, but it's been a few years, and my standards/display tech were a lot different then.)

I plan to, since I like the movie. So that's at least one sale...

Who says Cat People is shit?

I haven't seen it in years, but IIRC it featured full nudity and multiple sex scenes with Nastassja Kinski.

On the Shout website they have a bundle special for the upcoming Psycho II and III release.

It's those two movies, plus the 90 minute feature documentary Psycho Legacy DVD

for $48.90

I am stunned that Nightbreed is making it to Blu-ray, much less the long-missing cut.
