The TIGER ON BEAT COLLECTION combo set is now listed at Gruv, but geezus that ‘adult coloring book’ artwork. I’ll get it eventually, on sale, but once again I’m betting Arrow will get something a little more stylish for their slipcover or sleeve. The dude in the dark blue coat with the shotgun is supposed to be Danny Lee but, uhh, no.

Re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

A whole bunch of upcoming and unannounced Shout titles went up for preorder at Barnes and Noble, including UHD editions of Slither and The Money Pit as well as what I assume is their next Golden Princess title, I Love Maria.

I did some surface level digging and couldn’t find any others. Could you post what they are?

What Dreams May Come has great potential to be a demo disc for 4K with the wild fantasy sequences and colors. I remember loving the DVD back in the day, but don't even know if I bothered to pick up the blu-ray.

I bought the Money Pit blu-ray for $9 at Amazon but not the title worth upgrading to 4k and the higher price.

I'm sure it will benefit from HDR and Wide Color Gamut. Unfortunately, all of that 1998 CGI (and this movie has tons of it) was rendered at about 1080p resolution and composited to the film the same.

I agree, I was thinking the same with the upcoming Speed Racer movie which was rendered in relatively low resolution but could benefit with the colors for the 4K release. It's been many years since I've seen What Dreams May Come, so I'll most likely pick it up in 4K, and it will be interested to see if it affects me like it did back in the day.

They were up for a bit but quickly pulled.

Shout’s May slate is up for preorder at GRUV.

There’s also a Bambi horror movie that’s DVD only, along with a couple more UHD steelbook repackages (Alligator; Motel Hell) and a big bunch o’ reissues: Deathsport, Demon of Paradise, School Spirit, the Terror Within double feature, the Big Bad Mama double feature, Crazy Mama / Lady in Red, and The Warrior and the Princess.

Cover art aside, Shout! Has been doing a great job with these releases. I especially appreciate the sturdy boxes they’re using.

Re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Do the reissues of Big Bad Mama and Crazy Mama/Lady in Red restore the "grindhouse" option from the original DVDs? That's where you got Corman trailers, the first movie, more trailers and intermission ads, then the second move. It was available on the DVD but removed for the Blu. It may sound like excessive pickiness, but I happened to love watching the movies with that feature.

I recently rewatched Crazy Mama and Lady in Red and I chose the DVD instead. Also, the lower resolution gave it more of a grindhouse feel anyway, I actually might end up selling my Blus and keeping the DVDs.

This is one reason I still have all of the Corman DVDs. I can’t recall if all of them had that feature, but aside from a few two-fers of some lesser fare, that was a great line of releases (which also included some fun triple and quadruple features as well, like the NURSES and WIP films). Based on Adam’s post it appears some titles that were previously in double-feature sets are mow
being reissued as singles, which is all the more reason for me to keep the DVDs. And for me, the quality difference has always been negligible as I just enjoy seeing the movies restored (even just for DVD) and in widescreen, with bonus features, etc. These are drive-in movies; 4K remasters and more expensive collector’s editions won’t make them any better or worse as experiences. An Alan Smithee type might surely scream sacrilege but I regret nothing!!

Crazy Mama is absolute shit, I don't care that it was made by Jonathan Demme, it's shit. The Lady in Red is top notch exploitation cinema that wanders into the zone of quality filmmaking, with just an absolute stellar cast for a B movie.

But I'll never watch Lady standalone, I only watch it if I have 3 available hours for the full double feature drive-in experience

It's been a quiet few months, but geez, Shout is making up for it in June. Hopefully this isn't just a dump of everything they had in the works.

Of course, they release a Deathstalker Trilogy Steelbook after I just bought the regular dual release of 1+2 just a few months ago.

Why does Day of the Dead need 2 separate cases? It's bad enough when each film in a series gets a case, we don't need that for single films. I'm running out of room!

4 discs... yes I know they make single cases for that many but I like that they aren't squeezing them in to one.
