Eureka is doing the same for M and City Girl, and those are expected to ship mid-February: http://www.eurekavideo.co.uk/offers/feb_new.html

They're having a sale on other BD releases as well: http://www.eurekavideo.co.uk/offers/BD.html
(Mad Detective for ~$12.50 shipped!)

Thanks for the tip. I went to their page. When you click "buy", they pass you to Paypal, right? Does it mean they only ship to Paypal Address or is there another options? Sorry, first time there, and I need it shipped to a different address (are they shipping now? where can we chose type of shipping?)

Thanks for any help.

Re: The Official Masters of Cinema Blu-ray Thread

I don't think they have a choice of shipping type...they don't charge any extra for shipping, for what it's worth.

This is my third order through them, but I've always had it shipped to my main Paypal address, so I'm not sure about the other questions.

Re: The Official Masters of Cinema Blu-ray Thread

Makes sense...

Custom charges in Brazil are sometimes awful, but perhaps I have to try!

Thanks.

If you want to contact them before placing an order, it looks like [email protected] will do the trick.

Don't think they will know. I think I have to try and see if it gets too expensive. Thanks.

Some people in the UK have already reported getting theirs. I don't know if they're sending them out in batches based on how early you pre-ordered or what, but I wouldn't mind getting my copy next week. I ordered it and The Black Shield of Falworth about a week and half ago, and already got Black Shield on Friday.

I ordered City Girl directly from Eureka. $25 and change isn't bad.

Don't get too excited. It'll be Region-B locked. Also Blu-ray only.

I bet a lot of us here have region B-capable players, though, so we can still be excited.

True. It might also throw this on Criterion's radar for a domestic release.

Re: The Official Masters of Cinema Blu-ray Thread

From the Criterion Forum:
MoC METROPOLIS BD will be released before Xmas. We're coordinating with the other major licencees (Kino, MK2) etc for a simultaneous release -- and it's looking like sometime in October or November.

At this stage, our BD will be Region B.

Re: The Official Masters of Cinema Blu-ray Thread

Jonathan Rosenbaum said on his Facebook that he is doing a joint commentary with David Kalat on the almost-complete Metropolis for Masters of Cinema.
Assuming the Kino release is their typical crapfest, this disc may force me to purchase a region-free Blu-ray player, just as MoC's Nosferatu (vs. the Kino again) motivated me to buy a region-free DVD player in 2006.

I'm excited for Metropolis. It'll be nice to get some use out of my Momitsu.

In the meantime, BFI is releasing 3 Ozu films (each with a second film in SD) on Region B Blu-rays in April. Plus The Innocents on 3/22.

I really hope The Innocents is region free. I love that film.

It isn't, unfortunately. That's why I mentioned it in reference to Popcorn's Momitsu.

Re: The Official Masters of Cinema Blu-ray Thread

Thanks for the update on the Mad Detective sale. I'd purchased it before, sold it, and ended up regretting that decision. So this was a perfect opportunity to add the film back into my collection.
