Re: The Official Masters of Cinema Blu-ray Thread
I'm sorely tempted to pick up Lifeboat, Cleopatra, Double Indemnity but those would be double, triple, double dips on movies I've just screened recently and only watch every couple of years. They are so cool looking, though.

The Lost Weekend BD is great! The Billy Wilder interview is 3 hours long. I already had some of it as part of Kino's Billy Wilder Speaks dvd but this is more complete. I haven't had time to watch Double Indemnity yet.

I'm definitely in for Die Nibelungen (finally!), Floating Weeds (although I was hoping for a double-feature disc from BFI) and Passion of Joan of Arc (I'm hoping for different extras than the Criterion DVD), and will likely pick up Park Row once it's included in a Eureka sale.

Apparently, "End Of Summer" and "Floating Weeds" are the 2 films BFI didn't get the rights for. They got the entire Ozu catalog of films made at Shochiku. "End of Summer" was at Toho, "Floating Weeds" at Daiei.
But who knows? Eureka and BFI seem to be good friends, maybe they can help each other out....

Die Nibelungen is a truly epic film (or films), and it's going to be great to finally be able to get a good quality edition.
I'm also sure that the excellent Gate of Hell will be a huge improvement over the old VHS copy I checked out from my library a few months ago.
Also glad I didn't pick up the MoD Park Row.

• Newly translated optional English subtitles for the original German intertitles
• New one-hour documentary on the restoration of the film
• Lavish 56-page booklet with new and vintage writing, rare archival stills, and more!

On the Criterion Forum, Nick (formerly of MoC) stated that no HD master exists for Park Row, and on Facebook Eureka mentioned that the HD master for Trouble in Paradise wasn't a significant enough upgrade to justify the production cost of a Blu-ray. Any time they release a title DVD-only, it's likely for one of those two reasons.

Re: The Official Masters of Cinema Blu-ray Thread
DVD Beaver put the blu-ray comparison of Cleopatra up. Looks almost identical. Granted there are some improvements, but it's very marginal. I know the film is old, but some of the silent films that have been given the blu-ray treatment look spectacular. This one is disappointing, I lost interest in upgrading after seeing them.

Does Eureka! have a direct sales website? I couldn't find it on their homepage. Did they ever, or am I under a false impression?

I've got 'Lifeboat' coming. My most recent Masters of Cinema title was 'Repo Man' - such an amazing package. It was the limited edition tin, too.

Did you buy it from Eureka directly? I tried 5 times to buy it this weekend via Paypal and the order would not go through. I was able to buy 2 other items via a different order buy could not get Passion.
