Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

Not enough new special features - I'll be sticking with my DVDs.

Depending on what they used....it might just be SD all the way for the oldie extras. The new ones better be in HD though...

Isn't the fact that they kept most (if not all) of the special features, and the fact that it will be in high def reason enough to upgrade, especially at this price?

Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

Being HD is not enough for me to upgrade movies I already have, no matter how much I like them.

That's dumb. ESPECIALLY given that they'll most likely be $10 each.

Yeah I can't not pick them up, especially with the new features. Lionsgate is doing an excellent job with their Miramax titles it seems. Wish I could say the same for Echo Bridge...

Everyone has their own budget and their own priorities. That doesn't make it dumb; it just makes it not you.

Well not to sound like an asshole, but why the hell do you even bother having a blu-ray player then?

You realize that there are new movies coming out all the time right? So any movie that is a new release he can buy on Blu-Ray and not be double dipping, which he obviously doesn't like doing.

I can't believe the movie is almost 20 years old. That's astonishing to me because I still remember the experience of seeing it in a theatre when I was in high school and just being blown away that THIS kind of electric unpredictability could happen in a movie (remember this is after the 80's where EVERY popular movie followed Syd Field's formula down to the page), and getting all excited about pursuing a filmmaking career.

I do wish he'd do a commentary track, as he's very entertaining and interesting to listen to, but I would buy these even if they were just barebones because the real prize for me is to have these films in HD. I took a peek at my Jackie Brown DVD on a great upconverting BD-player and it looks awful. Also it's great that Netflix is streaming Pulp Fiction in HD, but it kinda looks like a bad uprez. Can't wait to give these both a watch in true 1080p glory.

Definitely getting both of these. But holding onto the CEs since I know I will soon enough long for such sexy packaging and inserts from the DVD era.

Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

I still have not seen Jackie Brown. I should pop it in one of these days since I've owned it for a long time

Big fan of Pulp Fiction so buying it on blu is as much a no-brainer as the Big Kahuna is a tasty burger.

Still nothing on Amazon. Please don't tell me both of these are Wal-Mart exclusives. There isn't a Wal-Mart anywhere near me and i live in L.A. Why would they make something so hard to find for most of the people who would want to buy it? You'd think this violates the anti-trust laws.

Just curious, not that I don't believe you but there's really no Walmart anywhere near you in L.A.? Seems like whenever I got to bigger towns they're all over the place it seems hard to believe there wouldn't be one there. Anyways I'll be getting both of these day one no matter what.

I agree. Using Walmart's store locator shows there are 20 stores in Los Angeles.

Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

I've heard that they stuck the Wal Marts in the ghettos in L.A. I've lived here for three years, driven all over town and have never seen one. Go figure. The price on walmart.com is pretty good, but I'm gonna wait and see what happens when it's no longer exclusive. I get so annoyed at exclusives and try not to reward them. Imagine if Dark Knight 3 was only released in AMC theatres or something. That would definitely spark an antitrust investigation.
