Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

Jackie Brown popped up in my amazon gold box for 9.97 not a huge difference from 10.49 but still not bad at all
Is it safe to assume if the preorder price drops below my GB price they'll honor the lowest price ? I know the regular preorder price has a guarantee than they honor the lowest price but I'm not sure about gold box preorders

I believe the GB discount remains 5%, so you would get it for $8.55.

Judging from those caps, the PQ on the Panorama release looks much better...

I hope the pics were wrong, but I'm not getting a good feeling about this release now...

Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

I may be incorrect but it almost seems like they were attempting to mimic the look of a film shot on reversal stock...interesting.

Blu-Ray.com review. The pics look better than the DVD beaver review, so who do you trust?

Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

I've read that DVD Beaver compresses their caps, but Blu-ray.com is often too forgiving and full of idiots.

I'll trust my own eyes since there's no fucking way I'm not buying both of these.

Re: The Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown thread

Looks good to me. Got them coming from Amazon. Can't wait. Our long journey of waiting for these two (I started this thread 2 years ago when they were supposed to come out the first time) is almost over.

blu-ray.com posters are being ridiculous about this. I think people are looking at the release of the HK/Polish disc and using that as the gold standard for how PF should look - for no other reason then that they came out first.

The US caps for PF and JB look fantastic to me. I can't wait to watch these next week.

The real reason is that there are a lot of these extreme dorks on that site who take pride in the fact that they have an imported version with foreign logos that they spent twice as much money on. They'll brag up their imported version for months or even years on Blu-ray.com and they can't handle it when something superior is cheaper and readily-available at Wal-Mart.

Basically they go from "I have Pulp Fiction on Blu and you don't! to having a $60 piece of crap with a dated 2002 HD transfer and hideous foreign logos on their shelf and they go into standard denial mode and create problems that aren't there.

no but domestic logos/ratings aren't forced to be huge and plastered on the spine and all over the front cover

On foreign release they're typically on the spine and/or cover as opposed to the relatively-tasteful relegation to the tech spec/credit block section on th back corner on US releases.

Check out the Superman Anthology for a particularly egregious instance of this. I'm usually not one for packaging OCD issues but Christ.

But yeah, for many people those logos are a badge of honor.

Australian DVD/BLU are the worst for this. All over the spine and all over the front and back cover.
