That's silly. It's clearly pointing to the Criterion release of the Guinea Pig series.

Well yeah, but that quote is taken completely out of context. I don't know what exactly that picture is from, maybe it's a screen shot from the movie they are talking about that is directed by him (which is what I originally though). There isn't a real accurate way for me to know.

Honestly, I'm just hoping for more upgraded releases of certain titles before we get more situations like RAN, which was a huge disapointment.

Go see the show. It is hilarious! And, I was amazed when I watched the film how faithful it actually was.

From The Playlist:
Olivier Assayas’ explosive and electric epic “Carlos” will be released on The Criterion Collection in 2011....The release will contain both the extended television cut of the film as well as the shorter theatrical edit

The shorter theatrical edit? Wasn't the theatrical cut 4 hours? How the hell long is this movie?

The theatrical cut is about 3 hrs. The tv version is three 100-110 min episodes.
I would be excited but I already got the UK release for 12 pounds shipped not that long ago. And the quality can only be so much better, the UK transfer is already reasonably good.

I assume the Criterion release of 'Carlos' will have a bevy of supplements (fingers crossed) unlike the UK bluray.

Having seen both Carlos and Satantango in a theater, I can say that Carlos, even though it's two hours shorter, is a more tiring experience. It's a full on assault of the senses, while Satantango has long periods of no dialogue or camera movement.

To some people, that aspect of Satantango is far more tiring, making it seem longer than it is.

Can somebody explain why "Drive, He Said" and "A Safe Place" are bundled together in the BBS set? I just purchased it on a complete blind buy, and I'm kind of confused. I don't want to read too much about them either, in order to avoid potential spoilers.

FISH TANK
SYNOPSIS: British director Andrea Arnold won the Cannes Jury Prize for the searing and invigorating Fish Tank, about a fifteen-year-old girl, Mia (electrifying newcomer Katie Jarvis), who lives with her mother and sister in the depressed housing projects of Essex. Mia’s adolescent conflicts and emerging sexuality reach boiling points when her mother’s new boyfriend (a lethally attractive Michael Fassbender) enters the picture. In her young career, Arnold has already proven herself to be a master of social realism (evoking the work of Mike Leigh and Ken Loach), investing her sympathetic portraits of dead-end lives with a poetic, earthy sensibility all her own. Fish Tank heralds the official arrival of a major new filmmaker.
Disc Features
* New high-definition digital transfer, approved by director Andrea Arnold, director of photography Robbie Ryan, and editor Nicolas Chaudeurge (with DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on the Blu-ray edition)
* All three of Arnold’s short films: Milk (1998), Dog (2001), and the Oscar-winning Wasp (2003)
* New video interview with actor Kierston Wareing
* Interview with actor Michael Fassbender from 2009
* Audition footage
* Stills gallery by on-set photographer Holly Horner
* Original theatrical trailer
* PLUS: A booklet featuring an essay by film scholar Ian Christie
Having just seen this On Demand, and coming into it late i wonder how likely it is there will be a version with commentary. From what i understand Criterion does not put out "Definitive/Most Definitive/Definitive Harder/Definitive Boomstick" editions, and what i see is most likely the only version they will release for this.
I admit to having a bias and feeling like i am missing out when there is no director or cast discussion, no film critic analysis/commentary (like for 7 samurai), or something along those lines. Having read the director and Michael Fassbender did a panel at BAM (Brooklyn academy of music) when the film first came out, i guess there is a part of me that secretly hoped it was filmed and somehow would end up on a disc.
