hahahaha...look at Guillermo Del Toro at CC taking all the BDs he can. I love that he asks for Paths of Glory only to find out they don't have it there yet.
I love you, Del Toro...

On an odd note...seems like 400 Blows is still in a Digipack case at CC.
I won't put it past him but....seems like may have owned many if not all the BDs that he didn't get based on that comment he made.

There's the secret: I just need to become a well known filmmaker, get my film into the Criterion Collection, and they'll let me raid their shelves. Voila!

It figures that a guy who can actually afford to buy any Criterion movie he wants would get them for free. Life is very unfair.

Oh fuck. So....being a student filmmaker I am now dedicated to creating a film of worth for CC somehow. Fuck yeah I'll take that as a payment.

I mean it'll also be a solid investment on Criterion's part. Give a good filmmaker good films, see what happens in a few years. Not that he hasn't already seen all of those though, but...

I love the part in the Blade Runner documentary where Del Toro waxes nostalgic about his Criterion laserdisc of the same title.

Oh i know! I just would love to talk to him. He seems like such a cool and nerdy guy, I mean that in the best way.

He is, without a doubt, one of the coolest, most laid back and open guys I've ever met in the industry.

It was a private screening for Hellboy II. There were maybe 100 audience members total, possibly less. They screened the film, then there was a meet and greet with Del Toro, Mike Mignola, and several members of the cast including Selma Blair and Doug Jones. No Ron Perlman, sadly, but it was still a blast. Del Toro stuck around for quite a long time, chatting, signing things, taking pictures with people and taking pictures of other people. At the end of it all we got signed limited edition Drew Struzan posters for the movie.

I talked to him for a bit when we had a special screening of Chronos at the Dobie Theater in Austin in 2001 when Devil's backbone came out. Very nice guy to talk to. And he does like to talk.
Can't wait to get Chronos on BD.

Although maybe I should have posted this in the DVD section since he doesn't seem to be too concerned with the Blu-Rays.

The Game confirmed, along with Pale Flower. Hopefully Criterion will be re-releasing other Home Vision titles, they've got a great catalog.
