I love the original film and would have been disappointed if Criterion released the remake first.

Looks like Breathless will be a Digipak

I'm not a fan of digipaks, but the Breathless DVD had very nice packaging, which I'm assuming a digipak was necessary to replicate.

I'm game for whatever. At least that thing is a lot classier than the previous CC digipacks...if that's what it actually is.

I like it. I don't think it's a digipack. I think it's a clear case inside a sleeve. Like Kino's Wong Kar Wai releases.

God damnit, again with the digipaks. I understand the logic behind doing it for a multi-disc release, but now they're going back to them with single-discs? Make up your mind already Criterion.

Yea that certainly looks like a sleeve on it. Pretty nice looking.

Let's not jump to conclusions. Like I said, it doesn't look like a digipack.

It seems more likely that it's a digipak than a slipcover, which they've never done before unless it's a multi-disc set.

I'm sure the decision has to do with the size of the book that comes with Breathless. Criterion has been pretty consistent with their choice in packaging. Any multi-disc single film or single-disc with large book will come in a digipack.

It actually looks exactly like a digipak. Which is fine with me, the original digipak for Breathless was awesome!

Yeah, no offense to PopcornTreeCt, but I don't get where he is coming from saying it doesn't look like a digipack.

Maybe Criterion will initiate a program where you can trade in your Blu-ray keep cases for digipacks.....

It definitely does look like a digipack from the very very small side view. I don't have a real photo editing program on my mac so I couldn't circle anything for you but you can see it in the box. It looks like one of those plastic trays that are glued inside of the digipack.

They have been? My Bottle Rocket BD in some odd Digipack say's Hi. Even back in the DVD days cases and collections would drastically vary. I only have Wes Anderson films (owned a few others like Brazil, Chasing Amy, Robocop) and they were all very different.

As long as the case doesn't damage the disc or fall apart, I don't care what it's packed in.

Nope. At least not for me. What do you do to your things to make them ware out? Case in point, my Fight Club dvd digicase - had it for 10 years now - it's gone through more than a few viewing, a few borrowings and 3 moves - and it looks as good as new. If you have shit that looks worn out, it's your own damn fault.

The first few waves of releases were in digipacks because they didn't have a supplier for the keepcases. That changed and they offered replacement cases for a price. Ever since then, they have been consistent. Breathless comes with a thick book so they need to put it in a digipack. I'm not surprised about it at all. I'm willing to bet Seven Samurai will also be a digipack.

Oh please. They had 3 years to find a supplier for a clear plastic case. They sat at the format war, but clearly could have researched what case was best. The one they chose is pretty but a slimmer PS3 Game case. How much money did they spend coming up with the Digipacks they used for the first few BD waves? Those are exclusive to Criterion BDs, so they made the change after the fact.

I still think it's a case in a sleeve.
