Is it still possible for me to order a replacement case for Man Who Fell to Earth and Bottle Rocket? I remember reading a while back that you could order them, but I don't see anything on the site.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I copied one of the guys' emails that put it up here and kept it on my desktop cuz it's handy..anyway...here's the info on that...

The cost for the replacement cases is $5 per case; this includes the cost of shipping. For multiple cases we offer a discount of $10 for the first two and $2.50 for each additional case beyond that (so, for instance, $12.50 for three cases

To order the cases, simply make a payment to the email address [email protected] through PayPal, providing your mailing address and item(s) needed in the message field, and we'll send out the materials!

Not true. I have "The Thin Red Line" in my hot little hands right now. Arrived from Netflix today.

The Thin Red Line is a great disc. I've watched it twice, second time with the commentary. Very insightful.

Nice. Obviously, it looks less like an actual Beta tape now due to width, but I'm so happy they kept the design. The DVD set is one of the coolest looking packages I have and I was disappointed that I would be parting with it.

Arrow is releasing a remastered Les Diaboliques on Blu-ray in the UK on March 28th. I wonder if a Criterion re-issue will be forthcoming. It's certainly a title that deserves one. Arrow is also releasing Ashes and Diamonds and Bicycle Thieves on Blu-ray the same day.

Cool packaging but I didn't like the movie. Not a huge priority.

If the Arrow transfers are good, I'm not waiting. Those are three great films.

While I could see Naked Lunch getting an eventual release, with Dead Ringers OOP, I'm not sure they'll pull that off...

There are a few titles which went back to release on MGM that are among the OOP titles (Straw Dogs, Silence Of The Lambs, a few others). I think for some of these, there might be a possibility to get them back into Criterion's hands. I would kill for Straw Dogs to be re-released in Blu, hopefully with the documentary restored with the film clips (good docu, but a little dry without the footage).

I really don't see MGM (or whomever controls MGM's library) licensing out The Silence Of The Lambs (which already has a decent release on both DVD and Blu). Straw Dogs would be nice, though. I've got the Criterion DVD, but if they were to get the rights back for a Blu release, I'd upgrade.

Especially given that WB currently controls that particular title.

Then again...I guess I never would've expected Sony to license out Easy Rider, either.

If any MGMs are going to leap back under Criterion's control, I'm hoping RoboCop is high on the list. A new HD transfer, all of the MGM extras Fox left off the disc, plus the old Criterion commentary and probably a Weller interview.

Sweet. I got "The Thin Red Line" and "Ride with the Devil" for just $19.99 each at B&N with my AAA card. I'm one happy customer. Haven't seen the latter. But bought it because I love Ang Lee. And needed a purchase over $25.00 for free shipping :)

Good point. The BBS Box Set in general is a good counter-example; I could see the smaller films getting released, but Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, and The Last Picture Show were rather surprising.

As much as I would love that, I don't see that happening. While it's clear that MGM/Fox don't want to bother putting any new effort into getting it released right (especially now that the remake has been cancelled), they still want to make money off it; hence the recent Trilogy release.
