Jon replied by saying that they didn't offer replacement cases (the clear ones) and said other etailers carried such cases. Admittedly, I was surprised by his response and I'm happy to pay for one. Where do I turn to now? |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Seriously? Why don't we have a thread specifically for Criterion packaging yet? This thread is getting ridiculous.

Did you tear the cover art? Or just the plastic from the plastic case? If the latter, just buy a replacement case for one of the cases they're offering (400 blows, Bottle rocket, etc.) and replace the cover art.
However, if the user is referring to the DVD then he'd have to scour the interent for a place that sells the clear Scanavo DVD cases that Criterion has been using for a few years... if the user wants things to be as close to the original packaging as possible, of course. I know I've come across a couple of places that sell the clear Scanavo cases, but I don't know what they are right now since I'm at work. CC |

RE: packaging... sorry if this was already asked and covered in the thread... I don't have the patience to search through...
What type of packaging (or packages if they were released in 2 different ways) do these titles have? The Seventh Seal Breathless Paris, Texas Playtime 8 1/2 |

I get frustrated that everyone turns to Criterion for replacement parts. I think they informally stated they were going to start charging $5 for booklet, etc, which sounds justified to me. That would encourage consumers to buy though a reputable seller where you can return it, but the idea of Criterion paying (at their own expense + shipping) to upgrade a bad flea-bay sale into a perfect set just seems wild to me.
As far as I know, in practice, Criterion have not followed their $5 policy. doctorthodt, I'm not meaning to talk to your issue particularly. I'm sure you'll have little difficulty getting your appropriate replacements, and sorry you ended up with a bad auction. My point is the same, though: as much as we see people get replacements on here, those costs have to come from somewhere. I guess the only answer is that the costs are factored into the price of the DVDs/blu-rays that we all pay for. |

It's a digipak.

It's part of a box set, so a digipak would be expected.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
It's a box set, I expected Digipaks. I'm guessing it will be like the Cassavetes DVD box set: 5 slim digipaks in one big slip box, probably with a booklet in there as well.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I REALLY hope they release the movies from that set seperately.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
They've only done that a couple of times in the past, with two of the Cassavetes titles, so it would seem unlikely. However, I'm sure they realize that Easy Rider and Head would have a market of their own.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Didn't Sony license Easy Rider to Criterion only under the condition that it couldn't be released separately? Or was that never confirmed?
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Well, I'm sure someone could create custom covers that fit the clear Criterion cases for each of the 5 titles in this set.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Enough talk about the films and their special features...what about the packaging?!?

speaking of NON-uniformity...HAHAHA!
a regular plastic case with TWO discs... http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/3600/186954885.jpg ack! nevermind...that's the standard DVD version. The blu-ray has only one disc |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
They should have used the booklet art for the cover.

I can't find Paths of Glory anywhere! I've been to Best Buy in Burbank, Frys in Burbank... and since the Barnes and Noble sale is on, I did a inventory search and there is NO Barnes and Noble in Los Angeles that has Paths of Glory in stock... what gives?
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
In for Modern Times but hanging on to the Image releases for the original cuts of the films.
