I'm really excited for True Stories, especially considering it was only ever released on DVD in P&S!

In for Ambersons (can't believe the only dvd release of that was a shoddy bonus disc with Citizen Kane), and maybe Some Like it Hot, depending on extras...

The Magnificent Ambersons is a movie that I really like, but one that gets me so bogged down when viewing it, knowing how far away it is from Welles vision of the movie. I can watch it, but its like going for a nice Sunday hike but with a big pebble in your shoe the whole time, that you can't take out.
I've lamented this before, but what a cinematic tragedy it is that perhaps the best to ever do it, had just about every film he made after CK gutted and recut by a studio. It's like someone painting over the Mona Lisa and making it definitive as to whether she is smiling or not.

My copy of The Tree of Life, which I ordered way back on July 11th... is now delayed. Expected delivery is two weeks from today. Ugh.

A bit of a bummer for me that extended Andrei Rublev has burned in subtitles, but oh well. I'm surprised we're even seeing this version in HD to begin with.

I looked into buying a digital copy of True Stories a few months ago but decided against it when I found it was only SD. Lucky for me apparently.

One of Criterion's previous cartoons seemed to hint at a release for In The Heat of the Night but that hasn't been announced. So now I am cautious about getting excited over their clues. On the other hand, this clue seems really obvious (plus To Sleep with Anger does not have DVD or blu release in the States.

I'm pretty sure every one of criterion's clues has come to fruition at some point or another. In the heat of the night (if that was truly the correct answer) was just last month's clue. Give it some more time. It will come. Probably sooner rather than later.
