Criterion.com has put the artwork for the individual movies in the BBS box set

***EDIT***
And thanks to ccfixx on bluray.com we have 'em bigger:

I believe so. Usually, with the exception of dimensions, BD and DVD that have been released simultaneously, have the same artwork

Beautiful covers. I've been checking back every day for the past week waiting for the cover art. I'm really excited about this set. Hell, I'm really excited about everything coming out the rest of the year. This is a tremendous year for Criterion.

Those will most likely be digipack inside the BBS box, I supposed similar to the Cassavetes set, which I prefer, as it's more elegant and space saving.

Same here. I was excited when this was a Sony DVD release, presumably with minimal extras. Now that we're getting jam-packed Criterion Blu-rays (at a reasonable price I might add), I'm ecstatic!

hang on, is that 'comic' poster hinting at future BD's? If so, I'm going to pass out.

I'm VERY interested into what CC will do w/ Easy Rider...considering we got it here in the states not so long ago. I here it was a good remaster w/ some solid features. Anyone can better confirm that 1st hand for me?

If these are the upcoming blu releases then I'm in for The Killing and Naked Lunch.

Considering several of them are already on BD, I doubt it.

I couldn't be more thrilled with that box set... but man, I don't like some of those covers much at all. The HEAD cover especially fails to capture anything at all about the film itself.

What happened to Videodrome getting a blu release? Didn't Amazon have a preorder for it a while ago?

It hasn't gone anywhere. 12/7 is the release date.

Maxflier,

This is what CC has on their site for Easy Rider bonus features as of now:

# Audio commentary featuring director Dennis Hopper
# Easy Rider: Shaking the Cage, a 1999 documentary featuring behind-the-scenes footage
# Footage of Hopper and star Peter Fonda at Cannes in 1969
# New video interview with BBS’s Steve Blauner
# More!

According to reviews, the current Sony BD (I don't own it, just the DVD) has the Hopper commentary and the doc, so it appears we may get some unique features on the CC disc in addition to those. While I have generally not been disappointed with any Sony disc I've bought, it appears Criterion's release may be upping the ante in the extras department, so I'll be holding off for the box set and skipping the digibook release of this film.

I will say that Shaking the Cage is pretty interesting, if you've never seen it. My favorite part is Hopper talking about how they had to work marijuana costs into the movie's budget.

Right. We can reasonably assume The Killing and Kiss Me Deadly will be Blu-ray releases, as both are relatively high-profile films that already have DVD releases. The Kubrick-helmed Killing is a lock for a HD upgrade, Kiss Me Deadly somewhat less so, though as I say I'm pretty confident both will be coming to Blu-ray in (early?) 2011.

well if you're right about those two Noirfan, I might still pass out. Two great film noirs in HD would be a great start to 2011.

I'm drooling over TTRL, but $38.49 CAD for it at Amazon.ca (like most Criterion BDs)? And then there's the tax. And I think that'll be the cheapest you'll find in Canada.

It's really hard to justify spending close to $50 on a single title.

Does B & N ship to Canada? If so, you should just wait until their probable December Criterion sale.

I may have to wait till the sale is back. However, I hope I don't get dinged duty charges as that can really negate any savings.

Criterion made a comment on Facebook about the "mythical 4 hour cut"... so maybe all it ever was was just a rumor.

There may be a ton of deleted scenes that we may never see (which may include a bunch of actors/characters we never got to see in the film), but that doesn't mean Malick actually put together a 4 hour cut.

Billy Bob Thornton apparently did confirm recording a narration for a long cut of the film (~3.5hrs) that was ultimately discarded.

He did. There were plenty of interviews with different cast members I read back when the movie came out. Essentially, Adrian Brody, who wasn't a name at the time, was the lead and he was completely cut out. They kept every single "major" cameo at the behest of Fox and Malick somehow made it all work in the shorter edit.

Ha! Billy Bob Thornton and his myths!

I read somewhere that he claimed he was married to Angelina Jolie!

I ordered a bunch of titles. Not during the most recent sale, but the one before that.

Didn't get dinged with duty, but they did take longer than expected to arrive.
