Too bad the new version is missing Wong's biography doc from the original. The extras should have at least been docked a bit of a star for that. Now I am annoyed I sold my orignial DVD in anticipation of this release.

They're announcing January releases today - any predictions?
I'm randomly guessing:
Wenders trilogy (though that would make three boxsets in three months)
On the Waterfront
Wild Strawberries (upgrade)
Eclipse - French New Wave

I've been having decent luck lately, guessing stuff I want, so I'll continue:
The Friends of Eddie Coyle
Ikiru
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
The Spy Who Came In From the Cold

Criterion specifically mentioned Ikiru on their Facebook page last week, not as a potential title just as a link about the movie. Hmm...

They have to announce Y tu mamá también at some point, right? I'd like to get confirmation of Red River too.

Peter Weir's Fearless would be fabulous.

Still hoping for Eraserhead. It's getting harder and harder to resist one of the imports.

Meh. Only two new releases.
I'm excited about the Hitchcock and the Tarkovsky, and will rent the Wenders. Overall, though, not the most exciting month, in my opinion.

Pina in 3-D? Awesome! I'm ecstatic over The Man Who Knew Too Much (miles better than the American version), but will stick to my DVDs of Ivan's Childhood and Two-Lane Blacktop. I still haven't seen The Tin Drum.

I really disliked The Tin Drum.
It will be really nice to get a good quality version of The Man Who Knew Too Much.

I wonder what the likelihood is of a Criterion Hitchcock box down the road with 39 Steps, Lady Vanishes, Man and Foreign Correspondent. Perhaps they could rescue a couple more 30's films from public domain hell?
