Hot damn, nothing warms my heart more than Noir in HD. I may not be able to hold off until the November sale for Kiss.

I was surprised at how little apparent difference there was between the screencaps, but I'm sure the Criterion looks impressive in motion.

I'm sure it does...

if you look at the comparisons w/ the spoon it's obvious the BD is better...the other ones it's hard to tell. Wet brick looks sharper on the BFI...but again...if the bitrate is higher...it's got to look better when in motion. I meant bitrate is higher and better in terms of the BFI to the CC BD comparison specifically...

DVD Beaver on The Makioka Sisters

Edit: Yet another Criterion Blu-ray that Netflix doesn't carry. I've begun to despair of ever previewing a Criterion Blu-ray before buying.

From what I can tell, Blockbuster lists all of the Criterion titles, but there is some delay before the stock shows up on some of the recent titles, so I'm not sure if they will have it on the release date

Here is the link for Makioka Sisters:
http://www.blockbuster.com/browse/ca...eDetails/80534

I put my Blockbuster account on hold for the past month as the Dish Network deal works its way out, but in the past couple weeks, several recent Criterions have become available (previously listed as unavailable) including Yi Yi, Sweetie, Mikado, Kes, Topsy Turvy, Videodrome.

I'm planning on removing the hold in the next couple weeks to start renting some of these titles.

Thanks for the Blockbuster info, I may have to switch from Netflix!

Not sure the point of guessing, but I can certainly dream.

More Chaplin would be nice. Also..let's get more Wes Anderson BDs. I'd love to get Life Aquatic on BD.

What are the chances of La Haine coming back considering the whole Studio Canal titles going OOP? Was there ever an official listing which were literally leaving?

The Phantom Carriage
Badlands
Carlos
L'Avventura (upgrade)
The Passion of Joan of Arc (upgrade)
Picnic at Hanging Rock (upgrade)

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I gave up on hoping for Weekend and Badlands announcements - if either of those are announced I will be insanely happy. I'd also love City Lights or any Chaplin for that matter.
