That is what I figured too. Hopefully we're right.

Excuse me, but what are "PoP tabs" in this context?

Proof of Purchase tabs. Tabs usually reserved for rebates. They could have fans mail in all 6 tabs(1 for each season) to get a bonus disc or something. Now that I'm typing that, it wouldn't surprise me if they did something totally different for the season buyers. Give out a bonus disc of material that isn't in the uber set or something.

Alright, I posted a picture once about 3 years ago so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right...

Here's the set:

pretty cool looking! This binder format would work well for a Complete Series set...I'm surprised they didn't want to use it for that.

Looks cool but it's still a $40+ binder with some patches in it.

I've spent $40+ dollars on much less cooler things, so I'm pretty stoked on the purchase.

Exactly. I told my mom to get me this for Christmas (using my Amazon acount. not $120 + tax Best Buy wants). Fun collectible of a show I love. I've seen people drop just as much cash on beer that they just piss out the next day (or puke up a hour or two later).

So the discs are housed in the binder? I was hoping they'd include the standard BD Packaging inside the set so I could just stick that on the shelf and put away the collectible stuff somewhere seperately... looks pretty awesome but I guess I'll skip it and go with the standard because I'm running out of storage space and want all my LOST together on the shelf.

Yeah...That irks me as well. A mail in rebate for a normal case would have been nice. Oh well. I bought the regular and Dharma set. Sucker I am.

Ok, I know what he is talking about now. My guess is that they were using a template, but somebody messed up the wording/spacing on S4. Notice that S1&S2 have "The HD Experience" on the side why S4 stuck with S3's Expanded Experience. S4 came out the same time as the first two.

S4 came out a few months before S1/2. I think 4?

Maybe, I know 1/2 came out at the same time. Not sure about 4. I believe they just didn't adjust for the additional writing on the spine.

I still havn't watched the blu-rays of S4 but I'm guessing they have the expanded episodes on the disc hence the name. (Extra footage of the Oceanic 6 stuff. They played most of the footage during the replay episode w/ commentary)

Personally, it looks fine to me. I just want a damn slipcover for S3.

Actually outside of season 1 & 2 this summer, they've all been released in December.

Lost: S3 :: Dec. 11, 2007
Lost: S4 :: Dec. 9. 2008
Lost: S1&2 :: June 16, 2009
Lost: S5 :: Dec. 8, 2009

3 and 4 came out first and second followed by the pair of the first two seasons. The first two seasons are the only ones that closely match each other but the rest are all off from one another.

Re: Lost: The Complete Fifth Season: December 8th

I think they look fine on the shelf together... if you want to see bad look at Rescue Me or Entourage. They switch types of cases, the logos are up and down depending on release, and for Entourage the first season isn't even numbered.

Another one that drives me nuts is The Shield... they switched case types THREE different times (1 is cardboard, 2-4 have each disc in individual slim cases, and 5-7 are in cases half the thickness).

Honestly though... most people don't even have their DVDs in order and they own a random season here or there (seriously.) I seriously think it's not even on most of the designers' minds to make sure they all line up correctly with previous releases... they're just worried about how the case looks on its' own.

I'll trade someone my LOST Season 3 slipcover for that sweet Dharma Initiative set... if you want everything to look uniform so badly

Re: Lost: The Complete Fifth Season: December 8th

What about Alias? They kept changing the cases on those, too. Though I think on the outside they all look the same except Season 1. Though I know they re-released all the Alias sets in slim-packs. I'm not sure how they look together. My problem is that I'm missing Season 5, so I'm sure when I get it, it will be a slim-pack, so it will look much different than my other season sets . I would have purchased it when it came out, but I had other things going on at the time, and money was an issue. Alias wasn't my top priority at the time, and hasn't been until recently when I got my wife into it. We finished the first 4 seasons, and now just waiting to get some extra money and a good deal on Season 5.

It would be cool if they did a similar themed package for the inevitable complete series set next year.

I still have my best guess as being an 815 model with the discs inside. Better yet, they should just release a giant foot ....

From a design standpoint, I think it would make the most sense to do a model Hatch. Personally, I think that would be the coolest as well.

A Hatch would be pretty neat, but they already had a toy 'thingie' of it. Maybe they'll pack the entire set in a backgammon package?
