hmm... to wait for the complete series or not?

I know I can't wait. I need to re-watch all the seasons prior to the final one in order to get a better grasp on the countless unsolved mysteries and plot threads for the show's final season. Since I expect them to resolve these mysteries, it seems like a good idea to get a really good FIRM refresher course. I already remember almost everything but there's details that probably wouldn't hurt to see in context again and as the series unfolds. It should be interesting to see if this series winds up a masterpiece in television or an incomprehensible mess of dangling plot threads and red-herrings that were splattered against a wall -- never to be resolved. We'll find out in just a little over a year... and I am both excited and terrified to see what awaits us.

But, yeah, I am such a die hard fan that I know I'll get these. If I'm going to re-watch it all this summer it seems like a good idea to watch it in High Definition. And if the series burns me at the end I can sell all my sets. Or if the Complete Series set is amazing (and I am satisfied by the end of the shows run) I can sell them then anyway and go for the big package.

Never seen the show, definitely going to rent these and check it out.

The Alias set is why Im weary of waiting for a complete series set. The Alias box is full of shiny discs being scratched up by cardboard...which is why I own the individual seasons of that show rather than the Rambaldi box. I may end up waiting until the complete series comes out just to buy the individual sets if that happens.

Good point ENDContra. The cases each season comes in now are nice, they're nice and secure.

Blu-ray does have that scratch resistant coating though, so cardboard packaging may no longer present a problem anymore as it did with dvds.

I still don't like the idea of cardboard rubbing on plastic discs.

As cool as this is, I think I am going to wait for the big box set...since that makes more sense. If I had grabbed s3 & s4, I would buy these.

I'll probably get these. I'd rather have the individual seasons now than wait for a theoretical box set, which will probably have sucky packaging, to be released in a year and a half from now.

And as someone else mentioned, I plan to rewatch all of the previous seasons prior to the beginning of the final one, and I much prefer to do it in HD.

I'm not sure who submitted it to Amazon but I designed that artwork they have as a placeholder.

Early word is that while all the episodes are 1080p, Disney is merely porting over the extras from the DVDs all in standard-def with no additional extras. Makes me wish they'd have lowered the SRP a bit.

Is that really awful? Lots of BDs have that setup. Is it possible that the extras for the first two weren't produced with BD in mind, so they didn't bother to produce them in HD and hold some back for BD only?

Yeah, I could care less. I've already seen all the extras once, I just want the episodes as purty as can be.

Season 3 really needs to get re-released with a proper slipcover. Looks totally out of place on my shelf. While the case mentions PCM, Disney has replaced it with DTS MA.

I wish I didn't have to wait until the 18th for these to arrive from Amazon. Seeing a picture with your copies in it... man, I am just so excited for these to come out.

I've only one through Season 1 so far...and pretty damn impressed. I'd say its a slight (slight) notch below Season 3/4 in terms of PQ/AQ. The only disappointment is all the special features are in SD.

Mine didn't even come with a slipcover. I'm debating just pulling the slipcovers off for display purposes. It's ridiculous how pettty we get.

I can't wait to see the Pilot in High Definition. Including, um, that scene with Evangeline Lilly in a bikini. But we all know that's not the real reason we watch Lost. It's just one of... many reasons.
